Located right in the north of the north eastern part of India, Arunachal Pradesh is the first state in India to greet the morning sun. But there is a downside to it also as the state is the remotest among all Indian states. The state has a long border with China, Bhutan is in its west, the Indian state of Assam, Nagaland and Myanmar in the south. Arunachal Pradesh is second to none when it comes to having amazing diversity of flora and fauna which charms every tourist who manages to land in the state. There are more than 500 rare species of orchids alone that exist in the state. The mountainous rivers of the state are ideal forrafting and angling tours whereas the undulating terrain of the region provides ample challenges for the adventurously inclined who'll find plenty of options to indulge themselves in such as trekking and hiking. Once known as the hidden land, the climate of the state varies with the altitude at which the place is situated. The south Arunachal Pradesh has hot and humid sub-tropical climate. The central region is mildly cool whereas the higher altitudes have alpine climate.

Location:Arunachal Pradesh starts from the foothills and goes up to the higher peaks of eastern Himalayas. It is a landlocked state of India surrounded by Myanmar, Bhutan, China and Assam.

Some of the important tourist destinations of Arunachal Pradesh are:

Bomdila

It is a beauteous small town rich in culture located at an altitude of about 8000 feet above the sea level. It is famous for the Buddhist Monastery located here is the headquarters of West Kameng District. Among the things and places that will attract you to this place are its cool climate, apple orchards, snow capped peaks and Buddhist Gompas (monasteries)

Itanagar

The capital of Arunachal Pradesh has several attractions that will thrill you no end. Take the Ita fort for example, in fact the name of the capital also comes from this very fort, which was built in the fourteenth century. Then you can visit the Buddha Vihar which is a Buddhist shrine. Other places that you can visit are Jawaharlal Nehru Museum, Ganga Lake, Itanagar Sanctuary, Polo Park etc.

Malinithan and Bhismaknagar

These are the two important archaeological sites of Arunachal Pradesh. Malinithan is sacred because of its association with Lord Krishna otherwise it is ruins of a temple site.

Parashuram Kund

It is a pilgrimage that is important for the pilgrims from all over India. Innumerous pilgrims visit the place in the winter season every year, especially during the Makar Sankranti festival every year.

Tawang Monastery
It is a 400 years old Buddhist monastery and was founded by Mera Lama. Before the monastery

came up, the place was a hub of Tantrik tradition.

How to Reach Arunachal Pradesh

The airport that is nearest to Arunachal Pradesh is Lilabari in Assam, about 67 km from Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. The nearest railway station is Harmuty, which is about 33 km away from Itanagar. Although, the railway station at North Lakhimpur in Assam, 60 km from Itanagar, is more convenient compared to the previous railway station. The State Transport Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh operates regular bus service to all the major destinations of the state as well as the neighbouring areas.
