CREATIVE IDEAS & SUGGESTIONS FOR OCTOBER PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH


Discover your Spiritual Gifts, and actually DO something with them in your church When you see them Wednesday, tell them about new insights you have as a result of meditating on last Sundays gathering Anonymously (if possible) leave their favorite candy bar on their desk or in their mailbox Invite them to go fishing, golfing, or some other shared interest - without an agenda Call them and ask what their prayer needs are Mow their lawn -- anonymously -- while they're away from home. Compliment them when they do things right Hug them and tell them you love them Send his wife flowers and a thank you note or their husband a gift certificate -- they play an important support role Purchase a NCM (Nazarene Compassionate Ministries) gift card in honor of them and their ministry (See Jeannie Frederick) Stuff a box with 31 notes of appreciation Have your kids draw a picture of their favorite Bible story for your pastor Give a gift certificate for a local restaurant/gas card Babysit the pastors children for free, so your pastor and his/her spouse can have some time alone Dedicate a song to your pastor on your local Christian radio station Make Scripture Cookies wrap cookies individually in colorful plastic wrap with a verse on a piece of paper enclosed Bring hot cocoa/coffee and a donut to your pastors office Give a gift certificate to a bookstore or NPH (www.nph.org) Send an encouraging email Share with your pastor how you are growing spiritually through his/her ministry Wrap a candy bar in an encouragement note

Stuff your pastors office with balloons, with encouragement notes attached to the strings Use a family picture to make a card and have everyone in the family write a note on it Give your pastors family a list of homes to which theyre invited for dinner every month Send your pastor and spouse on a weekend get-a-way Give a gift certificate for a vehicle lube/oil change Send a cookie bouquet Give a great worship CD Make a banner for your pastors office with your children, youth group, or Sunday School class Bring a pizza for lunch with Thank You spelled in pepperoni Give a gift certificate for raking leaves or other household help Give to your church in lieu of Pastor Appreciation Make a paper chain with 31 links, with notes written on each one Write Thank you in sidewalk chalk on the pavement of your pastors parking spot Film a video scrapbook of tributes for the pastor Invest in your pastors professional development with continuing education resources Pray for your pastors daily Deliver a complete meal to their house Present a bouquet of flowers or other expression of appreciation to his/her spouse Deliver a fruit basket or giant bag of specialty popcorn for the pastors family Phone in an order for delivered pizza and soft drinks for the pastors family..and PRE-PAY THE BILL! BE CREATIVE DO SOMETHING NOT ON THE LIST!!
