4.1.3

Offshore and Nearshore Environment Equipment which is not enclosed or hermetically sealed, but is situated offshore or nearshore, shall be protected against corrosion and operational failure due to wind-borne sea water spray and the accumulation of wetted salt (NaCl). Nearshore is defined as any outdoor, onshore location within one kilometer from the shoreline of the Arabian Gulf; all of the Ras Tanura Refinery and Terminal; and within three kilometers from the shoreline of the Red Sea.

Design and Construction 5.1 Pilot Operated Safety Relief valves shall meet the relevant requirements of ASME SEC VIII D1, Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for pressure-relief devices and shall carry the appropriate stamp. Capacity shall be certified by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors. 5.2 Minimum inlet flange rating shall be ASME B16.5 Class 300. 5.2.1 5.2.2 Flange facings and dimensions shall be in accordance with ASME B16.5. Flange face to face and body dimensions shall be in accordance with API STD 526. Manufacturer shall notify the Buyer when none standard bodies are supplied.

5.3

Valve body and bonnet material shall be in accordance with ASME SEC VIII D1, Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, UG 136 (b) Material Selections. The valve body materials shall be equivalent to or better than the following types and grades:
Cast carbon steel Cast chromium molybdenum steel Cast austenitic steel Cast 3.5% nickel steel ASME SA216, Grade WCB ASME SA217, Grade WC6 ASME SA351, Grade CF8 ASME SA352, Grade LC3

5.4

In sour service all wetted materials shall meet SAES-A-301. Welds and heataffected zones of welds exposed to corrosive components shall meet the hardness and heat treatment requirements as specified in SAES-A-301. This includes materials under overlays, platings or coatings. The required orifice area shall be calculated in accordance with API RP 520, Part I, Section 3. The manufacturer shall specify the selected API 526 effective orifice size, actual orifice size and corresponding actual ASME certified coefficient of discharge. For restricted lift valves the manufacturer shall specify the actual orifice size, lift and equivalent flowing area and equivalent coefficient of discharge. These values will be used to calculate actual flowing capacity, inlet pressure drop and noise.

Lift restrictors shall be non adjustable and shall be secured in place with a spigot. Fixed spacers or equivalent shall be used to restrict main valve piston lift. 5.7 Pilot valves shall be non flowing type. Flowing pilots are not acceptable. 5.7.1 Manual lifting levers or test pressure connection on the pilot for manually operating the main valve shall be supplied for air, hot water above 140F, or steam service when designated on the Specification Sheet(s) Form 8020-612-ENG. (Reference UG-136(a)(3)) Pilot setpressure springs and stem seals shall be protected from blowing dust/sand. Open yoke bonnets are not allowed. All elastomer seals, seats and O rings shall be suitable for design conditions and the process fluid. All Pilot valves shall be provided with a Pilot filter.
Exception: Whessoe Model 4150/4151 low pressure pilot valve. (Large 6" diameter Pilot directly bolts to tank and does not require a filter).

5.7.2 5.7.3 5.7.4

Inspection and Testing Requirements Valves manufactured to this Specification are subject to verification per Saudi Aramco Inspection Requirement Form 175-342000, Valve: Safety Relief: Pilot Operated. 6.1 Test Requirements 6.1.1 Hydrostatic tests shall be conducted in accordance with ASME SEC VIII D1, UG-136 (d) (2,3). The "design pressure of the parts" in UG-136 (d) (2) shall mean vendor's maximum design pressure for subject valve (not set pressure of subject valve). Operational tightness tests shall be conducted per API STD 527 with the exception that there shall be no visible sign of leakage (no bubbles) past resilient seats for a period of one minute. Set pressure tests shall be conducted per ASME SEC VIII D1. The set pressure adjustment shall be sealed. The manufacturer shall certify blowdown pressure setting against type test results. Individual blowdown tests on each valve are not required. The acceptance criteria are stated on the Specification Sheet.

6.1.5

When SAES-A-301 "Materials Resistant to Sulfide Stress Corrosion Cracking" is specified in the Purchase Order, the Vendor shall conduct hardness tests on all wetted parts in accordance with ASTM E10 or ASTM E18. Manufacturer shall conduct tests on a production sampling basis on machined components or produce test documentation to certify that base metal has been tested. Components or base metal shall be certified on a heat lot basis. Test results shall be traceable to Purchase Order line items.

6.2

Basic Final Acceptance Test Requirements Production testing shall follow the ASME SEC VIII D1, Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, requirements.
