MaytherebetheauspiciousnessoftheimmutableMeruholybody, Maytherebetheauspiciousnessofthesixtybranchesofholyspeech, Maytherebetheauspiciousnessofthelimitlessultimateholymind.     Commentary from Lama Zopa Rinpoche Therearemanywaystoconsecrateanimage.Thereareelaborateceremoniesthatlastthreedays,middle lengthonesthathaveupto12sectionsandlastafewhours,andtheextremelybriefonethataccompanies thisexplanation. ThisshortversionisbasedonaconsecrationtextfromtheKangyur.Itcontainstwospecialmantras.Thefirst isthemantraofdependentorigination.Itisrecitedforreceivingblessings.Whenyousaythismantraimagine thatthewisdomofallbuddhasflowsintothestatueorpicture.Itisthenabsorbedandstabilized.Itis importanttorecitethismantraproperly.Takecaretopausebrieflyafterthewordyopriortosayingthenext wordnirodha.Ifyoujointhesetwowordstogetheryougetanundesirableunintendedmeaning. Themantraofthestainlessushnisaisextremelypowerful.Itissaidthatifthismantraisnotrecitedduringa consecration,nomatterhowmanyotherprayersyoudo,theconsecrationwillnotbeeffective.Therecitation ofthismantracausestheconsecratedobjecttobecometheholybodyofthebuddhaanddoperfectworkfor sentientbeings.Thismantraissoforcefulitcandrawthebuddhaswisdomintoanordinaryrockormountain. Thescripturessaythatifyousaythismantra21timeswiththecorrectviewinthecourseoftheconsecration ofasinglestupa,youwillgainthemeritofbuildingtenmillionstupas.Thismantrawillpurifyahostofthefive heinouskarmashavingimmediateretribution.Themantrawillcauseyoutohavealonglife,ahighrebirth,a goodpositioninsociety,sublimeenjoyment,tobeprotectedfromharmandinterferences,toneverbe separatefromtheDharmaandSangha,allyourwisheswillbeaccomplished,andyouwillattain enlightenment.
