ITRW325: Praktika Projek 2013

Projekbeskrywing: Jou span verteenwoordig spesialis werksgroep binne Konsultasie-maatskappy wat konsultasiedienste lewer en sagteware ontwikkel om ad hoc besigheidsprobleme op te los vir middelslag besighede. Vanaf julle afdelingsbestuurder ontvang julle twee versoeke (gevallestudies soos aangedui vir elke groep in die tabel) tot projekte van klinte van julle maatskappy. Die bestuurder verwag van julle (span) om een van die versoeke (gevallestudies) in kort verslag te bespreek en oplossing voor te stel nadat julle miskien berekeninge met behulp van Excel QM gedoen het. Hierdie verslag is vir die doeleindes van bestuurder en gee inligting op bestuursvlak, bv. voordele indien die projek volledig gedoen sal word (hierdie is slegs voorlopige ondersoek met aanbevelings: kostes, tydskale, ens.) Die ander projek is die een waarop julle as span gaan konsentreer en sover moontlik gaan veralgemeen tot die daarstel van werkende stelsel. Gebruik soveel as moontlik van die dinge van die universiteitsopleiding (3 jaar van studies) en maak dit deel van die projek. Dit sal dinge insluit soos spanwerk, idees rondom verskeie fasette van Stelselontleding en ontwerp asook ander modules se werk. In meer detail dus, daar word van julle ten opsigte van hierdie tweede projek verwag om: 1. Die tweede gevallestudie voorlopig op te los en kortliks te beskryf in voorlopige verslag. 2. Probleme daaruit te veralgemeen, sowel as ander moontlike interessante probleme in die toepassingsarea te identifiseer. 3. Besluitsteunstelsel te definieer en te ontwerp wat die probleem kan oplos (Dinge soos datasubstelsel, module-substelsel en dialoog substelsel mag ter sprake kom). 4. Werkende stelsel te ontwikkel wat deur die klint gebruik sal kan word met verslag waarin die stelsel se bydrae tot die oplos/aanspreek van die probleem aangesprek word. 5. Die stelsel prakties te kan demonstreer aan die klint. Groepslede sal mekaar streng evalueer ten opsigte van afsonderlike bydraes. Finale punte kan aangepas word om verskillende bydraes te weerspiel. Enigeen (of slegs een) mag versoek word om die stelsel te demonstreer. Geen plagiaat sal geduld word nie. Wees versigtig. Inisiatief deur kreatief te dink en te doen sal sekerlik beloon word. Dit beteken dat om die voorskrifte hierbo te hou, nie noodwendig sal lei tot volpunte nie. Dit is nodig om meer te doen as net die gewone/voorgeskrewe.

Project Description: Your team represent a specialist working group in a Consulting Business Company. You do consulting and develop software for medium size businesses regarding ad hoc business problems. Your Division Manager gave you two requests (case studies according to the table) for projects from clients of the Company. The manager expects from you (your team) to discuss one of the case studies in a brief report and to propose a solution after you have done some computations may be with Excel QM. This report is for the purposes of a manager and gives information as at manager level, i.e. benefits if this project would have been done in full, (this is only a preliminary enquiry with recommendations: costs, time lines, etc.) The other project is the one you as a team will be concentrating on. You have to generalize the system and develop a working system. Use as much as you can from the things from the universities (3 year studies) and make it part of the project. That will include things like team work, ideas regarding different facets from systems Analysis and Design, etc. In more detail thus, as far as this second project is concerned, you must: 1. Solve the second case study preliminary and write a brief report. 2. Generalize this case study and try to identify some interesting problems in the application area. 3. To define and design a DSS that can be used to solve the problem. (Things like data-subsystem, module subsystem and a dialog subsystem may be on the cards). 4. A working system must be developed that can be used by the clients and must be accompanied by a report describing the systems contribution to the solving/addressing of the problem. 5. The system must be demonstrated to the client.

Team members will evaluate each other regarding each ones contribution. Final marks may be adapted to reflect the difference in contribution. Anyone (or only one) may be requested to demonstrate the system. No plagiarism will be tolerated. Be careful. To think and be creatively will certainly be rewarded. That means to do only as prescribed above, would not necessarily be awarded with full marks. It is necessary to do more than the prescribed.
