Baptism
Baptismal Preparation for parents and godparents: 7 8:30 pm the last Monday of the month. Call for Reservations. Baptisms are usually the first Sunday of the month.

Anointing of the Sick

Please notify us (355.1292) as early as possible for the Anointing of the Sick, the sacrament intended for the seriously ill or dying. It is Our Lords special presence and companionship in serious time of need. Anointing may take place in the home, at the hospital or elsewhere and as often as once a month. If someone should die without anointing, remember that the desire to receive is sufficient and the Lord cares!

Reconciliation and First Eucharist

Preparation for children who have attained the age of reason (usually during 2nd grade) is arranged either through the Office of Religious Education or St. Rita Elementary School.

If You Should Experience the Loss of a Loved One

Please call us at 355.1292 If you feel you will be in need, or your loved one has passed, we will assist in making arrangements with your chosen funeral directors; refer you to our liturgy and music directors; and offer you helpful guidelines and a book that will aid in the selection of readings for the Mass or Memorial Service. Areas we can help you with prior to the passing may help in the planning of funeral services. We know that this can be a tough time and we want you to know that your parish is there for you. PLEASE UNDERSTAND we only have one resident priest; sometimes arrangements for another priest may be needed.

Contact the Parish Office upon engagement; at least six months is needed for preparation of this joyous sacrament!

Dear Parishioners,
We join the Apostles today in their plea

Lord, increase our faith!

Why? Mainly because we could also make the prophet Habakkuks words our own today as well: I cry for help but you do not listen! I cry out to you, Violence! but you do not intervene. Why do you let me see ruin; why must I look at misery? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and clamorous discord. These words of the prophet Habakkuk could be describing atrocities being committed around the world and even in pockets of our United States. We live these days a most delicate peace and a very vulnerable sense of wellbeing. So many reports in the media begin: they just went to school that day, they just went to church that day, they just went to the mall that day. And how many times a day do we need to hear the words, this represents a threat to our national security? Gods answer to Habakkuk was Write down the vision clearlyso that one can read it readily. What vision? And why would this vision answer all of the hard questions? Well, our holy ancestors did not realize it at the time, but the vision was that of a Promised Oneof a Messiah. Redemption by Jesus, sometimes from our own selves, is the saving remedy. For us, New Testament People, faith in Jesus faith in his way and in his truthis the answer to violence on every side. No wonder our Holy Father Francis is advocating worldwide encounter with Christ. That very encounter changes hearts and eliminates the need for guns or exploding vests. Yes indeed, Lord, increase our faith! Increase MY faith! After all, it begins with us; our own transformation in Christ will touch and invite others to faith. Look how even a text message or a tweet can go viral. Even that word viral implies power to infect and spread. Just imagine: Contagious Faith! Saint Paul. Now, theres a man whose faith went viral and has endured more than two millennia. In the second reading he gives us the formula for success in overcoming misery and clamorous discord: Take as your norm the sound words that you heard from me in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Guard this rich trust with the help of the Holy Spirit that dwells within us. Lets underscore that Holy Spirit part, because thats the part that has the power to make faith and love viral. But firstwe have to believewe have to have THE VISION ever before us.

October opens with Respect Life Sunday, and, in this Year of Faith, Jesus disciples pray in our name: Increase our faith. How comforting is Jesus response. Faith cannot be measured by quantity but by qualityfaiths willingness to trust, risk, dare and when we see a need, to act on it. Jesus saw ten lepers and healed them; the Samaritan saw that he was healed and gave thanks, faith transforming his healing into salvation. Octobers final Sunday prepares us for the Year of Faiths final month with Jesus parable of the Pharisee and tax-collector. Though everyone presumed the Pharisee to be faith personified, he was not praying to God at all, just talking to himself. He replaced the praise of God with a litany of self-congratulation, and intercession with judging his neighbor. As the Year of Faith draws to a close, Jesus asks each of us, which of these two are you?
