Hadith of Gabriel continuedan finished! He (Gabriel) said, 'Tell me about ihsan.' He (the Prophet, pbuh) said, 'That you worship Allah as if you see Him, for if you don't see Him then truly He sees you.' He said, 'Tell me about the Hour.' He said, 'The one asked about it knows no more than the one asking.' He said, 'Then tell me about its tokens.' He said, 'That the female slave should give birth to her master, and you see poor, naked, barefoot shepherds of sheep and goats competing in making tall buildings.' Ihsan Means excellence Excellence in a spiritual state There are three things that have to be in check for a person to be a proper Muslim: o Bodily actions (Islampracticephysical) o Intellectual actions (imanfaithbelief) o Heart is sound (excellencespiritual stateheart) If the heart is not in check, the other things wont matter Hadith: Truly in the body there is a single piece, that if its good, everything about that person is going to be good; and if it is corrupt, then everything about that person is going to be corrupt. Verily it is the heart. Oh God, dont let our hearts deviate after You have guided us. People will follow their heart, even if their mind is telling them something else; i.e. someone who smokes; they enjoy it, even though their mind is following something else. The heart is attached to the sin. The weakest faith is that you hate it in your heart Ihsan is o to worship Allah as if you see Him, o for if you do not see Him, He sees you. This describes two different levels of being a good Muslim o Highest level of ihsan is to always be as if you could see Allah o But you get there by at least having the awareness that Allah is watching you Its like having a camera or recorder attached to you. Simply by knowing were being watched, our behavior can change Gives us a sense of accountability, awareness of that Allah is watching us o If you continually do this, youll reach the next level o To the point that everything you see will remind you of Allah; everything, even difficulties, are a manifestation of Allah To do something with ihsan is to do something to the best of your ability Shaytan will whisper thoughts to you; nobody is immune to is. The better you become, the more it occurs. A person who has a good heart, theyll immediately reject them. Thats because it didnt come from them.

A Companion came to the Prophet (pbuh) and said We find in our hearts things that none of us dares utter. He (pbuh) said, Do you really find that? They said, Yes. He said, That is clear faith. o Another Companion said Sometimes I experience such thoughts that I would rather be reduced to charcoal than get them on my lips. The Prophet (pbuh) said: All praise is to Allah who restricted the devils designs to mere evil promptings. Whisperings during Ramadan are residual effects from the Shaytans effects throughout the year. I.e. bad words or thoughts. First thing is to make dua, ask Allah for help. Theres a difference between slipping up and making it habitual. The Prophet, peace be upon him, Whoever doesnt leave bad speech and bad action, Allah does not need them to leave their food and drink.

Last thing, after ihsan, is signs of the Day of Judgment: Jibreel asked him (pbuh) When is the hour? The one who is being asked dont know any more than the one who is asking. The Prophet (pbuh) only knew what Jibreel knew. He mentioned 2 signs: 1. A female slave will give birth to her master a. Literally, there would be a lot of female slaves, and masters would have children with them. So, Islamically, a slave who gives birth to a child, the child is free and literally becomes the master of the slave. They literally ruled over their mothers b. Another interpretation is that parents will become like slaves to their children. Children will treat their parents like slaves. The parents will become inferior to their children, and the children will complain about it. 2. Youll see barefoot, destitute, almost naked shepherds competing with each other building tall buildings a. Very apt for whats happening in the Gulf. People were shepherds, barely had clothes; now theyre building mega skyscrapers (Burj Dubai). These two things indicate an overturning of order. a. Other hadiths point to leadership given to people who are corrupt i. As in almost every government today b. Role models will be people who are corrupt i. Very apt with artists and entertainers today
