As a member of the Sensor Systems research group, I focus on safely integrating highly efficient wireless power using high-Q resonant coupling technology with commercial applications including consumer electronics and implantable medical devices. I hope to explore wireless power research topics for long range and commercially viable wireless power transfer in biomedical devices for a PhD. M.S. in Electrical Engineering, September 2012 University of Washington, Seattle, WA Cumulative GPA 3.90 B.S. in Electrical Engineering, May 2010 Columbia University, New York, NY Cumulative GPA 3.81 B.A. in Physics with Mathematics emphasis, May, 2008 Occidental College, Los Angeles, CA Cumulative GPA 3.57 WORK EXPERIENCE Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant, January 2011 present University of Washington, Seattle, WA Developed high-Q resonators and helped design PCBs for the transmitter and receiver circuit boards for the FREE-D system, a wirelessly powered artificial heart (LVAD). Developed mathematical analysis for adaptive impedance matching networks for single frequency operation of high-Q resonant systems and designed PCB boards for implementation. Designed and tested techniques to maximize the quality factor of high-Q resonators based on coil geometries. Intel Labs Seattle Intern, July 2010 January 2011 Intel Labs Seattle, Seattle, WA I researched innovative techniques for wireless resonant energy transmission and learned about product development strategies in a research environment. Investigated and characterized wireless power capabilities of fourcoil and two-coil resonator configurations for on-PCB resonators.

EDUCATION

Wireless Power Transfer Research, September 2008 May 2010 Columbia Integrated Systems Laboratory, New York, NY I pursued undergraduate research with Professor Peter Kinget of the Columbia Integrated Systems Lab. I designed an efficient wireless power transfer system using resonant coupling and RF-DC conversion processes, and developed a process to simulate wireless power using Matlab and Saber software. Arup Electrical Engineering Intern Arup Electrical Group, New York, NY Summer 2008 Arup Electrical Group, San Francisco, CA Summer 2009 Experience with electrical load calculations, lighting, circuit breaker sizing, National Electric Code regulations, power equipment layouts, fire, A/V and security systems, emergency and standby power for museums, airports, skyscrapers, piers, parks, and science centers. Met urgent deadlines in a fast-paced work environment, and consulted with architects and other engineering departments to solve difficult problems. ADVANCE! Leadership Experience, January May 2009 Columbia University, New York, NY One of twelve students at Columbia selected to participate in a leadership program to explore leadership theory and skills. Met with financial, law, and engineering directors in Manhattan to improve leadership skills in the workplace. Network Appliance Internship, June August 2007 NetApp IT Security Operations Department, Sunnyvale, CA Reviewed, organized and helped design a platform that assessed the effectiveness of the companies IT Security. I met with members around the company, including the CEO, about security metrics that were of importance to executive management. Learned about the structure and mechanics that go into improving a successful, medium-sized Fortune 100 company. Center for Academic Excellence Peer Advisor, January 07-May 08 Peer advisor of mathematics at all levels Tutor an average of 15 students per week Tagrio Internship, May August 2006 Tagrio, Mountain View, CA Worked as website design engineer intern for this startup company Organized layout and style of website Assisted lead programmer and co-founder Alan Kaiser writing code using PHP
