Feature
Upgraded GUI

Description
The Inplant GUI has been updated providing a much better user environment.

Upgraded Code base The Inplant code base will benefit from years of upgrades and bug fixes resulting more efficient and accurate calculations. Excel Reports File Containerization Upgraded thermo Ability to generate output reports in Microsoft Excel. Containerization of the simulation files into one zipped file. INPLANT 4.0 thermo has been updated from PROCESS thermo to PRO/II 7.0 Patch 5 thermo. When flashing compositional fluids are used the results will match PRO/II Thermo. FLEXlm 9.5, TOKEN and USB security are added as the security options.

New Features

Compatibility with Earlier Versions of INPLANT

INPLANT 3.0x database files will not open in INPLANT 4.0. INPLANT 3.0x input files will be imported to INPLANT 4.0.

Important Notices

Do not install INPLANT in the same directory where an earlier version of the product exists. If your computer has an earlier version it is essential that you specify a different directory for the installation. Before executing any of the installation programs, disable all antivirus software running on your computer. There has been a change in enthalpy basis between the Process thermo used in Inplant 3.03 and current PRO/II 7.0 Patch 5 thermo that is used in Inplant 4.0. For simulations that use olgas 2-phase and olgas-3 phase correlations, INPLANT needs to be run out-of-proc. Running it in-proc leads to application crashes due to problems in the olgas modules. A large number of inlet and outlet ports are permitted to allow the user to model large gathering or distribution systems. However, the performance of the manifold unit will be poor if the combination of inlet and outlet ports is excessive. Several simpler manifold units should be used to model these types of systems.

Switching Between Security Types

INPLANT 4.0 provides the following security options:

USB hardware security, in which you insert key specially coded to allow use of INPLANT. Simply plug the hardware directly into the computers USB FLEXlm Security for Windows W2000/XP/2003 for INPLANT. TOKEN security option on the FLEXlm Server 9.5 Application installation CD.

INPLANT 4.0 Release Notes

To switch to USB security:

Open the inplant.ini file found in the user directory. Find the section entitled [wss_Security] and set Type=USB. Save the file and exit.

To switch to FLEXlm9.5 security:

Open the inplant.ini file found in the user directory. Find the section entitled [wss_Security] and set Type=FLXLM95. Save the file and exit. If you are running under Windows 2000/XP/2003, add the IPASSI_LICENSE_FILE=@{FLEXlm server machine name} system environment variable to your control panel/system/ advanced/environment variables. Reboot your computer so the changes to your security environment will be correctly configured.

To switch to TOKEN security:

Open the inplant.ini file found in the user directory. Find the section entitled [wss_Security] and set Type=TOKEN. Save the file and exit. If you are running under Windows 2000/XP/2003, add the IPASSI_LICENSE_FILE=@{FLEXlm server machine name} system environment variable to your control panel/system/ advanced/environment variables. Reboot your computer, so the changes to your security will be correctly configured.

Summary of Defects Fixed in INPLANT 4.0

Below is a list of defects that have been fixed in INPLANT 4.0.
Feature Bends Description In the LINK DEVICE WINDOW when a bend is defined to have a nominal ID, the decimals after the decimal point gets replaced by zero, i.e. 1.5 in NOMD becomes 1 in. NOMD. Case study is not taking rate qualifiers LV, GV, or M. Not working in GUI or keywords. GUI drop down box allows all of these as choices. The 'copy node' utility does not copy the source specifications in this problem. It used to change the composition basis from weight to molar. GUI Error message when importing *.inp file: "Network driver doesn't have enough memory" is related to the 16 bit environment. The new GUI and calc engine no longer has memory problems. TEE can be import into Inplant GUI.. INPUT=PART and PRINT Statement on LINK is now supported on import. The network layout information in INPLANT GUI is preserved in the keyword file. Distillation data imports correctly. Input Previously, if an orifice was specified with actual inlet inside diameter in mm and the orifice diameter in mm, a warning message appeared stating that the orifice diameter cannot be larger than the inlet pipe diameter. The GUI no longer makes diameter comparisons when using nominal size. This error processing is handled by the calc engine. Limit card values are printed in the input file. The GUI keyword generation specifies 'SPGR' as 'SP GR' which is not recognizable for the keyword processor. SPGR is written properly in INPLANT 4.0. The Inplant GUI correctly generates the proper keyword for VISC(OIL). It used to generate VISC(LIQUID) instead. Output The Note : WHEN HEM RATING (I.E. ESTIMATED NOMINAL CAPACITY) EXCEEDS MINIMUM RATING (I.E. REQUIRED VALVE CAPACITY) THE USER IS ADVISED TO REEVALUATE FLARE SYSTEM is incorrect. The pump curve is ignored for compositional runs. The problem runs correctly on Inplant version 4.0. The program is not interpreting the curve default metric flow rate units incorrectly [as Liters per hour (LHR) instead of cubic meters per hr (CMHR).
