Sharing on Sewerage / Sanitary Requirements

New Sewer to be Laid on Road Reserve

Benefits: Flexibility of land use; No entry to the premise required, when workers need to inspect or repair sewer; No risk of sewer overflow in the premise

Discontinue of Shared Sewer Connection


Where public sewer is available, shared connection to the neighbor lot should be discontinued and diverted to the public sewer along the road.

Wet over Dry Area - Strata


Discharge pipe shall not run above bedroom, living room, dining room, or kitchen areas Concerns: Leak, noise, nuisance

Practices: Avoid If routing not possible: Recess slab Double slab P-trap WC, Shallow FT (not for kitchen)

Platform level, top level of ICs should be higher than top MH level

Preventing Used Water Overflow (Backflow)


Used water from basement or sunken platform which level is lower than MH top level shall be discharged via pumping system.

Drainage System to Storm Water Drains


Sewerage system is not designed to take loading from rain water.

Common corridors/verandahs Void deck (except wash area) Covered play area MSCP (except for car washing) Open areas in backyards/courtyard/airwell/open balcony where rainwater is expected Pump island at petrol stations Footbaths, open shower points for swimming pools

EXAMPLES OF PENALTIES IN SEWERAGE AND DRAINAGE ACT (SDA)
