Graphic design present the daily life of all people, on television, newspapers, billboards in the city, logos, on the

websites of many examples. No doubt this is the art of communicating through an image. This article will outline some concepts and definitions related to graphic design, history and the different trends that have developed this art. What is graphic design? Graphic design is a profession that includes the design, programming, design and implementation of visual communication, usually through industrial tools, designed to communicate specific ideas to certain social groups. It is about communicating ideas in a graphical means, an image, a logo, a poster. Graphic design is also called "visual communication design" because many associate the word "graphic" with "printed" and yet, graphic design is present in all media, not just print. Graphic design has many application areas: advertising, corporate identity design, web design, packaging design, among others. Definition of graphic design is really new, in regards to their activities and goals. There is no consensus as to determine the origin of graphic design, because there are different concepts of what could be included old graphic communications within what we consider as graphic design. For example, some believe that the Paleolithic cave paintings and graphic communications would be for a specific purpose and therefore could be considered as the first expressions of graphic design. However, it is obvious that it is not possible to compare the graphic designer today with prehistoric man.

Today's graphic designers often use desktop publishing software and techniques to achieve their goals. Graphic design is the most universal of all the arts. It is all around us, explaining, decorating, identifying; imposing meaning on the world... Without graphic design's process and ingredients - structure and organization, word and image, differentiationwe would have to receive all our information by the spoken word. In the 21st century, however, graphic design may be applied directly to websites, eliminating the need for an intermediary. Graphic design is undertaken to convey a specific message (or messages) to a targeted audience.
