1. Cameroons Global Trade in Ships and Boats
Cameroon has a 0.45% share of Africas imports of ships and boats and is the 15th largest importer in Africa. Between 2002 and 2011, Cameroon was a net importer of ships and boats. Imports of ships and boats to Cameroon were significantly larger than exports leading to a trade deficit of ZAR241.3m in 2011, increasing from ZAR14.5m in 2002. In 2008, Cameroons trade in ships and boats significantly increased and the trade deficit peaked to ZAR4.2bn from ZAR1.07bn the previous year. In 2011, trade declined to just ZAR253.6m. Cameroons export destinations for exports of ships and boats are mostly African countries with the exception of China and the UAE. In 2010, Cameroons largest export destination for ships and boats was Equatorial Guinea , which imported 52.3% of ships and boats from Cameroon, followed by Gabon at 36%. Senegal, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the UAE, Togo and Angola account for the remaining 11.7% share of exports. Cameroon has a diverse set of source countries for imports of ships and boats. The top ten source markets in 2011 were the United States, Russia, France, Israel, China, Vanuatu, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Gabon. The largest source country was the United States with half of the imports of ships and boats sourced from that country.

At a product level, cruise ship, cargo ship, barges were the largest export products from Cameroon at ZAR4.1m in 2011. Exports of cruise ship, cargo ship, barges accounted for 67% of ships and boats exports. The top import product was light vessel, dredger; floating dock; floating/submersible drill platform with imports worth ZAR160.9m accounting for 65% share of ships and boats imports.

South Africas Trade in Ships and Boats with Cameroon

Trade in ships and boats between South Africa and Cameroon is in favour of South Africa. Between 2007 and 2011, South Africa exported ships and boats to Cameroon, while there were no imports of ships and boats from Cameroon. In 2011, South Africa exported ships and boats valued at ZAR337,974, consisting of exports of yachts, pleasure craft, sports vessels, rowing boats, canoes and exports of floating structures. Western Capes Trade in Ships and Boats with Cameroon

The Western Cape accounted for a 29.8% share, of South Africas exports of ships and boats to Cameroon. In 2011, the Western Cape exported ships and boats valued at ZAR7100,674 consisting of only exports of floating structures.
