i. Provide 1600mm internal diameter casing with 8mmm thick and the debonding length will be provided up to the design minimum 300 mm below cutofflevel. ii. The casing will be wrapped all round with proposed Bituthene 3000 debonding membrane that provides smooth surface that creates a debonding effect for the pile. iii. In additional measures to prevent the inflow of concrete into the annular space during concrete placing, 2 layers of 1200mm x 25mm thick polystyrene plug will be installed at 500mm above the bottom of the debonding casing. The polystyrene will be continuously wrapped with the debonding membrane to prevent any damage to the polystyrene during debonding casing installation. The debonding casing detail and the proposed debonding material, Bituthene 3000 product detail and specification can be referred in Appendix D.

5.2.2. Installation of Debonding Casing

The sequences for debonding casing installation are as follows; i. Installed 1800mm diameter outer temporary casing in accordance with the earlier explained section 5.1. ii. Pre boring of 1800mm diameter borehole will commenced with from the ground level and stop at the design C.O.L level (81.025mRL) iii. Installed the 1600mm internal diameter debonding casing up to the final level of 1800mm diameter preborehole which was done in step.(ii). The verticality and positioning of the debonding casing is maintained during the installation process by installation of 4 nos of 50mm spacer bar which welded to the side of the debonding casing at every 3m interval. Details can be referred in AppendixC. iv. Upon the debonding casing toe reach to the bottom of the 1800mm prebored hole, the debonding casing will be gradually pressed down by using boring rigs kelly bar until the toe of the debonding casing penetrate at least 300mm below the Pile Cut Off Level(81.025mRL) . v. Surveyor will check the position and verticality of inner debonding casing after reaching to required level. Adjust the position and verticality of the casing within the annular space between outer and inner casing if necessary. vi. The 1600mm diameter debonding casing will be securely welded on to the 1800mm ID outer temporary casing . vii. Bentonite slurry will be filled immediately if encountered the ground water level in the process of above stage. i to vi . Otherwise bentonite will be filled into the bored hole at this stage till reach ground level. viii. Change the drilling tools from 1800mm diameter to 1600mm diameter and continue bore to the required design toe level. ix. The illustrated sequence for the debonding casing installation can be referred in Appendix C.

B. Methodology of Kentledge Assembly and Setting Up

Kentledge test pile method is the type of test that most widely used in compression load testing. In this method, the concrete blocks are stacked upwards with the supports of secondary beam to forms a reaction dead weight.

The Kentledge system consists of: i. ii. iii. iv. v. vi. vii. Concrete Blocks; (support casing where necessary or applicable will be address in separate submission) A Section of Beams supporting the Concrete Blocks; Main Girders to transfer the load to the hydraulic jack; Required number of hydraulic jack to transfer the load to the test pile; Required set of instrument for measuring the pressure against the test pile; (Pressure Gauge will be used to indicate the load applied to jacks. The actual applied load shall be measured from Load Cells) 1 set of instrument for measuring the settlement of the test pile (Dumpy Level with 2 Bench Marks and/or 2 Dial Gauges).

The proposed Kentledge settingup for Preliminary Compression Test Pile is shown in Figure 1 and the layout drawing for Working Load test Pile can be referred in Appendix E.

Figure 1. Typical Kentledge Settingup The concrete blocks shall provide the necessary reaction required in the test. Overall concrete blocks shall be provided up to 110% of anticipated Test Load. Main Girder shall be aligned to centre of gravity of concrete blocks to maintain safe and stable setup. The secondary beams will be arranged overlay on top of the main girder beam perpendicularly. The details and calculation for the Main Girder and Secondary beam can be referred in Appendix E. Kentledge foundation and support design will be based on PE ' s endorsement design , hardcore filling or concrete platform will be lay above ground to provide additional 8
