without additional reinforcement, provided that there is
a minimum sur face reinforcement according to Table 1. (Exception: forces
through parallel shear pull and transversal pull, see sections 3, 4 and 5.) The
inser ted waved rebar only takes over the local transmittance of forces in the
concrete. The user is responsible for the transfer of the forces within the pre-
cast concrete unit itself.

2. Edge distances,
minimum panel thickness
To guarantee the local transfer of forces into the concrete, cer tain distances
between the anchors and cer tain edge distances to the free panel edge must
be maintained. For reasons of safety the panel thickness must not fall shor t of
a cer tain minimum. The appropriate minimum values for the individual
anchors are given in Table 2.
The reduced panel thickness in table 2 is valid for a concrete compressive
strength of 15 N/mm

and straight pull. Parallel shear pull up to b = 30is
possible if the parallel shear reinforcement will be installed. Transversal pull is
not permitted.

3. Parallel shear reinforcement
If the Waved Anchors are loaded by parallel shear pull (see Fig.3), the ensuing
horizontal components (Fig.2) must be adopted by the precast unit. Therefo-
re, at an angle of inclination b > 12,5it is necessary to employ a rebar (she-
ar force reinforcement) in the opposite direction of the horizontal force com-
ponent on the anchor (see Table 3).
This reinforcement must be fixed to the Waved Anchor with the Data Clip and
close contact is imperative.

The transversal pull reinforcement is attached to the anchor by the Data Clip
so that there is close contact to the socket of the Waved Anchor.
4. Maximum working load of the anchor at transversal pull,
parallel shear pull and combination of both.
By simultaneous transversal and parallel shear pulls, for instance when erec-
ting panels (Fig. 8), it is necessary to install only the transversal reinforcement
as this also takes care of the parallel shear pull.
The transversal pull reinforcement is not necessary at an angle of inclination g
< 15. This occurs, for instance, when lif ting from a tilting table which is not

Q
4. Transversal force reinforcement
PFEIFER Waved Anchors are made so that they can fit into the face of very
thin concrete panels. They can be used when lif ting concrete panels from the
horizontal in order to lif t these in a ver tical position. Only half the panel load is
involved when lif ting as compared to that of ver tical transpor t.
During lif ting, transversal pull (perpendicular to the sur face of the panel)
occurs at an angle of inclination of g = 90. The transversal force results in
transversal pull reinforcement (a specially bent rebar with cross bar, giving
lateral suppor t) which have to be added to the concrete panel (Fig. 5). The
transversal pull reinforcement is then fixed with the Data Clip (see Fig. 6 and
Table 4).

quite ver tical (see Fig. 7). Should an additional parallel shear pull (two-legged
sling set) be encountered, it would be necessary to install the usual parallel
shear reinforcement.
Where transversal forces are concerned, the lif ting anchors have half the load
capacity as the straight pull:
adm. F
Q
= 0,5 adm. F
Z
There are no anchor capacity limitations necessary as only half the weight
must be lif ted when lif ting precast concrete units. If the lif ting anchors have
been dimensioned in order to lif t the panel ver tically, then they can also be
used to tilt it. This is the same with or without parallel shear pull (Fig. 8).
It must be observed that with parallel shear pull with increasing angle of incli-
nation b, although the weight of the precast concrete element remains the
same the force affecting the anchor increases. See in this connection point
4.2 of the General Installation Directions concerning the PFEIFER Thread
System.
