Volunteer Opportunities:
Role: English Language Tutor for secondary School students - South West Inner City Network What's Involved? Volunteers will be expected to engage in non-formal learning group activities, provide individual language support to young people from secondary schools with occasional home work help. Where: Rainsford St, Dublin 8 When: 2 hours every Monday evening Role: Volunteer Photographer - Volunteer Ireland Awards 2013 What's Involved? Volunteer Ireland is seeking photographers to photograph shortlisted nominees for the 2013 Volunteer Ireland Awards. Each volunteer photographer is assigned to 1/2 nominees in their locality and will be required to take a number of photos, preferably at the place they volunteer. The images will be featured on our site www.volunteer.ie, the Volunteer Ireland Awards booklet, and possibly a 2014 digital campaign. Photographers will be credited (with links) wherever possible. Where: Various, depends on locality of volunteer and nominees. When: Once off before November 11th for a couple of hours. Role: Carpenter Solas Project What's Involved? Carpentry training for young people primarily teenage boys. Basic toy making. Where: 40 Marrowbone Lane, Dublin 8 When: 2 hours per week Thursday to Friday Role: Education Facilitator (Music) - Saint Patricks Cathedral What's Involved: This position would best suit a retired/ out of work school teacher with an interest in music . Alongside music based activities, educational facilitators will also be asked to deliver guided tours of the building and should therefore ideally have an interest in the building and its life. Training in the delivery of guided tours and education sessions and all necessary information will be made available.. Where: St Patricks Cathedral When: 3 hours a week, Monday to Friday Role: Internet/Social Media Volunteer - Vollyball Association of Ireland What's Involved: Transfer data from current site to new CMS site and maintain content and manage social media. Tasks: Liaising with staff members, populating content, linking newsletter, website and social media sites. Where: Thomas Street, Dublin 8 When: 8 hours a week Role: Group Secretary - Dolphins Barn Scout Group What's Involved: The Group Secretary is primarily responsible for the administrative affairs of the Scout Group.. Key areas of responsibility are as follows: convening meetings of the Group Council, preparing agenda for the meetings, recording minutes and decisions, assisting with the administrative matters of the Scout Group, dealing with correspondence, keeping a register of all members Time Commitment: Meeting of the Group Council must be attended which take place in the evenings 6 - 8 times a year. In additon meetings with the Group Chairperson / Group Leader may be required to prepare. Time will be needed to prepare various documents for the meetings. Access to your own computer and email would be a necessity. Where: Scout Centre, Dolphins Barn When: 2 hours a week as well as extra time to prepare documents
