Principals Message Parents you should have received your childs progress report. Teachers are also setting up conferences to discuss your childs learning goals and scores. If you have not had a conference, please schedule one soon. At the conference, many teachers have been sharing Discovery Education information which is one of our schools assessment tools that monitors skills for all students in grade K through 5. Students are DE tested three times a year. The DE report is available for parents to observe strengths and weaknesses in math and reading. Our website will be posting a Discovery Education PowerPoint for parents to view more information about DE soon. To improve academic progress students must be at school and on time. The Parent Institute research shares that attendance is one of the single most important factors. Share with your child why education is important and give an example of important people they know who work. Discuss with your child that getting enough sleep and exercise helps them at school too. Poor habits are hard to break once they get started.. Children need to hear that sometimes adults want to stay home too, but it is our responsibility to go to work and school. Students really do not understand it is the Law. Please try to schedule appointments after school and family trips on vacation days. Seminole County has a Truancy Policy which every school must abide by. Notifications have started to go home for numerous tardies and absences. We all have busy lives but our childrens education should be a top priority. We have noticed that fewer and fewer students are walking to school or riding their bikes. Both of these are excellent activities and it would not only improve academic performance but also lower the number of cars on the ramp. (Smile) Play 60 was in the last newsletter and information will be posted to our website. I am looking forward to the fall weather, the Book Fair, Fall Festival, and a lot of Koalas being successful this year! Until next time, Ms. Adamczyk Good News! Students, parents, and teachers love Book Fairs for a number of reasons, including: They provide easy access to a wide assortment of books. They give kids a choice in what inspires them to read more. Book Fairs involve family, which demonstrates to kids that reading is important. Flyers will be coming home with more info.

Grade Level NEWS!

Fourth grade is off to a great start welcoming many new students as well as Mrs. Raker who moved from 2nd grade and Mr. Powers coming to 4th from 5th grade. We have been working on our daily expectations, rules and procedures that will be followed all year. We are all learning and adjusting to our new reading series. Please make sure your child is reading at least 20 minutes and filling out the required reading log each night. In math many concepts are taught in a very different way than we, as parents, learned. These concepts will be tested the way they are being taught. We urge you to look over the lesson and use the vocabulary and methods shown in the book to help your child. Dont forget you can access both the math and science books at https://wwwk6.thinkcentral.com. We would like to thank all the parents who attended our parent night on August 28th. The teachers went over a lot of information that will help to ensure your child has a successful 4th grade year. Conferences, both Student Led and parent teacher conferences are in full swing. If you have not met with or set a conference date or, if you have any questions or concerns please
