A Novel Bandpass Filter Using A Dual-Mode Square Patch Resonator with Combined CPW and Microstrip Input/Output

A novel bandpass filter using a dual-mode square-patch resonator is proposed in this letter. The input and the output of the filter are constructed on a coplanar-waveguide (CPW) and a microstrip line, respectively. Therefore, a transition of CPW/microstrip may be simultaneously realized by using the filter. The filter has been investigated numerically and experimentally. Measured results show that the minimum insertion loss in the passband of the filter is about 2.1 dB and its out-of-band rejection level is below -23 dB

Design of Compact Dual-Mode Dual-Band Bandpass Filter for Wlan Communication System

A novel approach for designing dual-mode dual-band bandpass filter is proposed and experimentally studied. By embedding a pair of crossed slots in a circular patch resonator, the dual-mode dual-band filter is realized and the structure could be reduced significantly. And coupling between two degenerate modes will be adjusted, as well the band-to-band isolation increased, by loading with two quartercircular holes, which can be placed at the center of the circular patch. Further improving the performance of the filter, the first and second transmission zero can be controlled by the line-to-ring feeds. Finally, a dual-mode dual-band filter with center frequency at 5.2 GHz and 5.8GHz, which included in WLAN bands, exhibits a band-to-band isolation better than 30dB.

A new narrow band dual-mode microstrip slotted patch bandpass filter design based on fractal geometry
A narrowband, compact, and easily fabricated microstrip bandpass filter design is introduced in this paper as a candidate for use in modern wireless systems. The proposed filter design is based on the use of dual-mode (two pole) square slotted microstrip resonator. This microstrip bandpass filter has the advantages of possessing much narrower and sharper performance responses than those of the single mode resonator and conventional square patch filter. The proposed microstrip

filter structure is fractally generated using Sierpinski fractal curve geometry applied to the conventional square microstrip patch. Filter structures resulting from the successive iterations in the fractal generation process show a considerably low insertion loss, and sharper response of about 1% fractional bandwidth as compared with the conventional microstrip square patch filter of 3% fractional bandwidth designed at the same frequency using the same substrate material. The performance of filter structures, based on dual-mode resonators up to the third iterations, has been evaluated using a full-wave based electromagnetic simulator Sonnet software package. Performance simulation results show that these filter structures offer narrower fractional bandwidth percentages as compared with other types of non- fractalized filter structures.
