CM30 movie Genre There are many different kinds of movies in our day.

Filmmaking has branched into about 26 different topics, every topic varying from the other. The topics of fast passed Action, slow methodical Crime followed by brief action sequences, the scare of Horror, the drama of War, and the ideas of Sci-Fi will be discussed in this wright up. The theme of action is widely dispersed in movies. Action movies tend to have many similar traits such as fast camera movement, high-energy fights, and suspense buildup to a fight scene. In movies such as Die Hard, a main character can start their day like any other yet in a split second the wrath of god is unleashed. Later in the film, the male/female character usually has a target or objective that other characters try to stop him/her from doing. This usually creates fight scenes throughout the movie adding an action element in every section of the film. These films tend to cost the most money due to special effects. The fight scenes usually having guns, blood, bullet holes, and sometimes explosions that needs to be added to make sense of the actions of the characters. Look at a typical war scene, Now remove the gunshots, then the explosions, then the bullet hits and the war scene will not look right as people jumping around, hiding, and falling over have no reason to. The scene of fighting is also scaled down to one vs. one combat in some movies. If two main characters go against each other, it usually ends with a sidearm battle, knife battle, or brawl to killing or defeating the opposing character. These fights could be long drawn out battles with fights in the background, or even quick fast passed fights in a house. The action genre is really a wildcard of fights within movies sometimes in unnecessary parts of the movie. Crime Movies and TV series have seen a boost in todays entertainment system. Crime has a base storyline of the crime committed, the detective(s) looking at the evidence as the assailant continues with his life., then possibly committing more of these crimes, followed by the identification of the assailant and possibly a chase scene to capture the assailant. This series usually happens in a movie or select crime shows. Some Other crime series such as Flashpoint include aspects of action sequences of gunfire, along with long agonizing suspense scenes of extreme danger to characters. One episode a mad bomber had placed landmines in a field and a character had stepped on one yet the landmine did not set off. This suspense scene had character drama, emotion and self-sacrifice to save others. These themes ripple through all crime movies and series. In movies such as Sherlock Homes characters will follow, sometimes insane, characters who thinks much like many geniuses. This unbalance of advantage has people watch in awe as they watch a character beat seemingly imposable odds. Crime movies can also be slow and boring to some. The people who watch pure action films may not approve much of the slow pace of crime however may like the more developed character plot. Horror films tend to in the modern day include a few specific elements. For starters, most horror films have gore, and lots of it. Other films will have jump scares where the monster/character the main character/group is avoiding will seemingly jump out into the view of the camera when people least expect it. Horror films also tend to build suspense very well as people may know what is going on yet the characters do

not. This gives the person watching the film the question what will happen? Rarely will characters know more then the people watching the film. This makes the people have a uneasy feeling of knowing what could happen next. It is even possible for the knowledge of the audience to lead to untrue conclusions such as evidence leading the audience believing a character/monster is in a roomwhen in fact they are not there anymore. The breath of easiness from the audiencecan be cut short with a jump scare by the monster/character.The topic of war can be one filled with propaganda or one of great dramasuch as Saving Private Ryan. War themed movies tend to have long periods of action packed fighting, large amounts of special effects, and sometimes-huge amounts of body actors. The War theme can follow a small group of men through their experiences such as movies like We Were Soldiers, or following a certaincharacter very closely such as Saving Private Ryan where the sergeant was themain character followed through his objective of saving a Private Ryan. Some warfilms were made to affect the publics view on war. If a good, romantic, hero making war is shown not the regular bloody one them more people will join the militarys to fight.Sci-Fi is a newer topic made for films. Having things exist in the filmyet not exist in real life. This can have the audience feel unfamiliar with theenvironment or the weapons. This can have people be scared or brave of theenvironment they are presented with. However the Filmmaker must explain eachitem and what it do es. Movies such as Avatar where a new planet is created with life we have never seen. Every Life must be explained what it is, what it does, andwhat it is like. Comparisons to animals people know can work such as adding jaggedteeth for a carnivore or big heavy looking animals for a rhino look alike. All parts of a Sci-Fi film must be described visually or by characters and what it does. Thereforethe new world created by a script can confuse and alienate the audience yet at thesame time keep them returning for sequels of the film due to the world they like inthe film. Therefore movies and their topics of Action, Crime, Horror, Warfare, and Sci-Fi can make seemingly similar stories between movies look very different becauseof their background and how things are in the culture of the movie.
