We are what we eat. We know this regarding our physical body. But it holds good even for our spiritual body. Deuteronomy 8:3 - 3 "He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD. Jesus spoke that in Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4. We are not just molecules in motion / matter and energy. Genesis 2:7 holds the key of who we are!

Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life ; and man became a living being. When God did that, the man rose up and became a living soul (Adam). This didnt happen to any other living being. Ezekiel 37:9 Breath of God is the origin and source of Life. 9 Then He said to me, "Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they come to life.""' Acts 17:28 - 28 for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we also are His children.' What we eat is shown out. Lack of food affects the body-malnutrition / weakness / dehydration. Same can happen to our spirit. Life is dependent on the word of God. In Matthew 4:4, Jesus says 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.' Note that it is not pastors or preachers but man.

John 6:26, 27 - Dont let all your efforts go only for your food. 26 Jesus answered them and said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. 27 "Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal." We need to check Where are my efforts going? John 6:32-35 - 32 Jesus then said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven. 33 "For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world." 34 Then they said to Him, "Lord, always give us this bread." 35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life ; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. Testimony of Dr. James: - When he failed to get a seat in PG in CMC Vellore after his 3ed attempt, he was shocked and disheartened. Ha had thoughts about the ministry he was doing in CMC Vellore coming to a standstill, difficulty of facing the people in the fellowship as they had prayed for him. After he got the result, with all these thoughts and with tears, He went into his room and cried out to God. When he was reading the Bible, asking God to speak to him, his eyes fell on Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. (Reference I Corinthians 2:9) He believed it and amazingly God gave him a seat in CMC Ludhiana in M.S, General Surgery his first preference, which is not an easy thing to get unless you are a topper. He says, I dont know what would have happened to me if I had not received that word. God prepared Dr. Mary there and he got married, got a job and got a kid in CMC Ludhiana. People commit suicide because they do not receive the word and they feel hopeless. Bread of Life is sealed Jesus Christ. We need to seek Him for it. He says, He who comes to me shall never hunger. Gods continuous speaking is essential for the growth of an individual. For spiritual sustenance we need Gods word. His word at the right moment is so essential! Matthew 16:6, 11, 12 - Jesus says beware of the teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees. 6 And Jesus said to them, "Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." 11 "How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread ? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." 12 Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Matthew 13:25 Jesus speaks of a parable Tares among Wheat. An enemy has done this sowing tares among wheat. 25 "But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away.

So many things attract our attention friends, TV, books, net, ads, preachers any route. We are supposed to consume bread of life! Proverbs 4:23 23 Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life. If I dont guard my heart and build hedges, the enemy will come. We need to understand and remember My future is in my heart, locked up inside me and it needs the word of God every day. God might want to point out something to us in our life. Listen to God and get that word for the day. It will minister to you and will be relevant for your situation and will give you hope for tomorrow. We cannot copy, paste the word of God It will not do any good for us. Psalms 1:2 - 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. Academic knowledge of scripture is not enough. We have to act and obey it. Obey one step at a time as God speaks to us. One more incident from Dr. James life in his own words When we came to Vizag from CMC Ludhiana, we found it difficult to adjust as we had to work with a lot of people who were not Christians, unlike in CMC.(Their value system was different.) When I got a job with a six figure salary which seemed to be a good offer, I prayed and asked God to guide me. God spoke to me through a verse in John 21 :- Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these ?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord ; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Tend My lambs. So it was clear that God wanted us to stay in Vizag and do his ministry! As a result hundreds of medical students were blessed through the ministry among the students and in the church! We need that Rhema word timed word of God it has importance and relevance to our time (What Im doing.) (Logos word written word) If I receive the word, it becomes life in me. Reading is different from listening. God expects every man to come and receive (seek) Him for the bread which is sealed in Christ.

We need to remember: 1. No time for Gods word in our life? Enemy will sow tares and Ill become a puppet just directed by what has entered my heart. 2. God will give his powerful word every day, journal it. God will use those words to bless not only you but others too! The promises Gods word is not only for one individual but for all of us. We need to receive Gods word. So remember and pray You are what you eat!
