I hope you enjoyed your holiday on Monday. The weather has been great for the fair and other outdoor activities. This a great time of year to get outside and get moving. Even though it is a short week, it has been a busy one. Our Charleston Wrap items have been delivered and can be picked up. Check the calendar for pick up times. Our kindergarten and 1st grade classes enjoyed a performance by the Marionette Theatre. Our 2nd graders went to the Lexington County Museum for their field trip. We will cap off our busy week with the Fall Festival on Friday evening. You certainly dont want to miss out on the fun! We are quickly approaching the end of our first nine weeks. I hope you were able to attend a parent/teacher conference and get some valuable information on your childs progress. I encourage you to stay in touch with your childs teacher, visit their web pages regularly, and check the Thursday communication folders. Next Tuesday is our picture day. This picture will be used in our 2013-2014 yearbook and are available for purchase. Our yearbook order forms are being sent home today. This year we will offer you the opportunity to order your yearbook online. See page 3 for details. I hope to see you on Friday at the Fall Festival. Enjoy your weekend.

Sisu is a Finnish word. Sisu is the highest honor you can receive in Finland. There is no single word equivalent in the English language. Sisu is a person who never gives up, always tries, cares for others, is honest when no one is looking, goes out of their way for the better good of others, a planner, leader, demonstrates sportsmanship, the person you would like to be like, someone you can count on, helpful and more. Those are the character traits we are highlighting in the gym. This award does not go to the fastest or strongest person but to the person who demonstrates the qualities of Sisu during PE. They are honored by writing their name on the wall of Sisu in the gym and wearing the Sisu- Viking helmet down the halls back to class. The other students in the school congratulate them for being a leader in their class as they walk by.
