Opening Up to Open Courses

THE WHY
Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) are transforming the landscape of teaching and learning while disrupting the higher education community. Development of these courses provide an opportunity to broadly reach a large and diverse audience, even if the business model and implications are not fully dened. The Ohio State University is taking a proactive, yet cautious, approach to MOOCs and iTunes U. By testing the waters Ohio State is allowing themselves to experiment with the open education paradigm, without undervaluing the traditional higher education experience. Further, we are leveraging outcomes from open courses to enhance our on-campus student experience.
