Final year BSc Microbiology student with knowledge and practical experience in a range of
microbiological subjects and techniques gained through both academic study and recent work
experience. Experienced in experimental planning, design, execution and reporting. Seeking a lab
based position in the pharmaceutical industry with the opportunity for further personal development
within the microbiological field.
Education
09/00 - 07/04 BSc. (Hons) Microbiology, University of Westminster (expect 2i).
Final year project: Epidemiology of E.coli 0157: Survival and control. Included a study of the
pathogenicity of E.coli in general and species 0157 in particular, reservoirs,
monitoring and possible future developments.
Level 6: Applied enzymology, Applied microbial & molecular genetics, Bio treatment,
Commercial biotechnology, Molecular biology and disease diagnosis and
Molecular therapeutics.
Level 4: Basic microbiology, Biometrics, Biological chemistry, Cell biology & biochemistry,
Genetics & molecular biology, Laboratory skills and data handling and
Physiological systems.
Units: Cells, molecules water & pH, Bioenergetics, photosynthesis & mineral cycles,
Amino acids, peptides, proteins & enzymes, Carbohydrates & lipids, Vitamins,
trace elements & hormones and Genetics.
• Working as an Aid for the Federation of Black Housing organisation at their annual
conferences (last 3 years) and as an office administrator (07-11/00).
• Working as an usher for the Creative Arts, Hackney for a range of live literature events at
various locations.
Other Skills/Interests
• Student member of the Society for Applied Microbiology and regular reader of scientific
journals including ‘New Scientist’ and ‘Microbiologist’.
• IT – Considerable experience with a range of software including Microsoft Office and SIMS,
and an aptitude/interest to learn more.
