Srishtis School has an impeccable reputation of delivering excellent training at the Harrow Arts Centre since 1991. Bharatanatyam dance classes are conducted by Nina Rajarani MBE and Karnatic vocal classes are conducted by Y Yadavan. This highly successful husband-wife artistic team provides the students of the school with holistic training in the classical Indian performing arts. The school provides courses with accredited examinations and regular performance opportunities. Srishti works closely with the Harrow Arts Centre and the London Borough of Harrow on their arts and cultural activities, ensuring that Srishtis students and artists are regularly featured in prominent local events. Performed to live music, Vichitra presents traditional Bharatanatyam repertory performed by students of a variety of ages and levels, starting from those who just started their training at the start of this academic year, to those who have been training at the school for many years and have achieved professional status. Karnatic vocal students will also present their talents in a short recital. Nina Rajarani MBE has earned herself an admirable reputation as a teacher and as the director of Srishti. Her students pride themselves upon their high standard of dancing. The school emphasises strong, classical training rmly rooted in Bharatanatyam tradition. Bharatanatyam is a classical dance style originating in the temples of Southern India. Characterised by its strong lines, geometry and symmetry, as well as its highly expressive mime, it is probably the most popular classical Indian dance style worldwide. Y Yadavan is a sought-after musician with an international prole of performing worldwide. He is known as a meticulous teacher who is able to bring out the best in his students. Karnatic music is highly systematic and vocal training in this style provides students with a strong classical technique. Students can join the school from age ve years upwards. Students may enrol for both the music and dance classes to gain holistic training in the classical arts, but it is also possible to enrol for either the music or dance class. The training is all target-based, regularly preparing students for examinations and performances.
