6th Annual Ride for Camps

~Scout Camp Benefit Ride
October 13, 2013
The clouds looked foreboding as Kent and Jazz met in the Fergies parking lot last Saturday morning. But the forecast was for only a slight chance of showers, so we headed north anyway, meeting up with Hap Miller for breakfast at the Bob Evans restaurant on Centerville Road. The air was crisp, but dry for the rest of the ride to Bashore Scout Reservation in Jonestown, PA, north of Ft. Indiantown Gap. Apparently, other riders were fearful of what the weather might do th and attendance for the 6 annual Ride For Camps was down compared to last year. That was their loss! Those attending were treated to a delightful ride through Lebanon, Schuylkill, Berks, and Lancaster Counties. The leaves were just beginning to change as we rode along wooded stretches of road, and along sparkling streams. We were all treated to a fine lunch upon our arrival at Camp Mack, the other camp in the PA Dutch Council, just north of Brickerville. All proceeds for the even go directly to the scout camps themselves. This is a great event that helps the youth of our own community. It never did rain!!

Brusstars for the dessert and bonfire. Yes, there were smores, but there were also a wonderful selection of tasty treats courtesy of the Wagners mobile dessert tray! In attendance for the evening were the Freeman family, Janet & Dave Maldonado, the Brusstar family, Keith & Wanda Wagner, Bud and Karen Stillman, Ray Stauffer and his wife, and a handful of other guests as well. A blessed time! Friends around a campfire~God is Good!

The Progressive Supper Returns!

Yes, we are Riders With A Purpose, but we are also from Lancaster County, and that means we like to eat! Once again, our progressive supper was a big success. Though this one was lighter fare with only three stops, there was a wonderful difference with dessert being shared around a roaring bonfire. We even had smores! But we are beginning our story at the end, so lets back up a bit. We started the evening with Appetizers at the Freemans at 5:30 PM. With our bellies already nearly full, we then jumped on bikes or got in cars and travelled to the Maldonados for Soup and Salad. And a fine meal it was, including a hearty beef vegetable soup, or chili! From there, as if we could eat another thing, we travelled to the

A Big Thank You to New Providence Baptist Church for hosting another Biker Sunday last month! It was a wonderful time of worship and fellowship.

Banner Fund
Now that we are an officially chartered chapter, we are allowed to order a banner, bearing our chapter patch. The cost for the banner is $250! Once we purchase our banner, a second identical banner will be hung in the gallery at the CMA National Headquarters in Hatfield, Arkansas. This means that Riders With A Purpose will be making its mark on a National level! Lets rally around this cause with our contributions so that our banner is on display at the National Rally this summer. Drop your change or bills in the special Banner Fund jar at our

Were Invited!
Dear CMA Friends, The Glory Road Riders would like to extend an invitation to your chapter to join us for our annual Christmas Banquet at Yoder's Restaurant in New Holland on Saturday December 7 at 5:30 pm. The final details such as cost and menu have not yet been determined. I have been in contact with Yoder's and they expect to send out the menu choices within the next week. I don't want this to just be the "GRR" banquet. We gladly welcome everyone's input. There is enough time before the banquet to get all chapters involved. Please let me know if you would like to help in any and all aspects of planning the banquet. We need to decide menu, family style or buffet? Entertainment (if any?) Table decorations, general itinerary? Also we usually collect a Love Offering to bless someone in need. I would be willing to host a meeting at my house for any chapter members who would like to be part of a "planning committee". In HIS Service, Phil Getz
