Develop the project idea in relation to a potential grant 1.) Create an approximate timeline for construction / completion of the project.

2.) Create an approximate budget in relation to the timeline. Do not VE at this point.

3.) State the deliverables, be able to communicate them effectively.

4.) Determine how to track both expenditures and deliverables. List project budget and elements in terms of anticipated invoices or draws.

Read the application word for word. Understand their wording / terms. Can you meet the requirements of the grant (Deliverables, time table)? Will you? Is your organization set up to receive the type of award (ex. Product)? Are there any requirements concerning purchasing, hiring, etc. that may conflict with your organization? Submit on time. Anticipate unrelated delays in the Council approval process.

Recognition If possible have ribbon cutting, invite grant representative to speak. Invite associated politicians. Create a positive atmosphere. This is the most important step to next years application with the grant board member. Place signage at the site if appropriate.

Closeout Provide exactly what you promised. Finish on time. Provide a clean, easy to follow closeout. This is the most important step to next years application with grant staff.
