Invitation from the Co-Chairs

On behalf of the Toronto Finance Convention Committee and the Management Investment Club, we are pleased to formally invite members of the club to attend the 2012 Toronto Finance Convention. Building on the success of past years, the 2012 Toronto Finance Convention promises to be a unique opportunity for students and participating firms alike. First held in 2008, the Toronto Finance Convention is a three-day event aimed at exposing ambitious McGill students to the myriad of career opportunities that exist within the financial services industry. For many students, this will be a first exposure to business professionals outside the classroom. With the support of sponsoring firms, we hope to complement students formal education by building their understanding of the field, and exciting them about the prospects that await after graduation. This three-day event provides club members with the opportunity to hear from accomplished guest speakers, visit some of the top Canadian and International Banks and Asset Managers as well as network with numerous industry professionals. Similar to past years, approximately thirty undergraduate members of the club will be selected through an application and evaluation process. The charge for this years event will be $300 per student. Included in the fee is travel to and from Toronto, 3 nights stay at The One King West Hotel, a 4 star hotel in the heart of the city, 2 days of meals at the hotel as well as a gala dinner and cocktails. This years convention will be taking place from October 4th-6th with students leaving Montreal at 4:30pm on Wednesday October 3rd and returning on Saturday October 6th. Sponsors for past conventions include; JP Morgan, Bank of America, Fidelity Investments, Credit Suisse, Bank of Montreal, Scotia Bank and RBC with representatives from other firms attending both the cocktail and gala dinner. We encourage all students interested in the field of finance to apply as the convention offers unparalleled networking opportunities with professionals in the financial industry. Sincerely,
Devon Howard Co-Chair TOFC 2012 514-946-3394 devon.howard@mail.mcgill.ca Mohammad Awada Co-Chair TOFC 2012 514-442-5000 mohammad.awada@mail.mcgill.ca Henri-Luc Carlin Head, Convention Committee TOFC 2012 514-966-4466 henri-luc.carlin@mail.mcgill.ca

Club Profile
The Management Investment Club (MIC or the Club) is a multi-faceted club, open to all students in all faculties at McGill University. The MIC is centered on the financial services industry with two main points of focus: Investment Banking and Investment Management. The Club plays a major role in bridging the gap between the classroom and the financial workplace, and proudly supports the career preparation and development process of McGill students. The MIC strives to help students learn more about the worlds financial markets through seminars, speaker-series, information sessions, trips, and forums on a range of industry related topics. The preeminent events the MIC hosts are The Toronto Finance Convention, the New York Finance Convention and the Inter-University Trading Simulation, which attracts delegates from top universities across North America. The Club also takes part of various trading simulations and other competitions across Canada. Beyond these activities, the MIC maintains an active equity portfolio and, in tandem with this portfolio, offers students the opportunity to be part of the Club's stock analyst team. As a member of the team, these students are fully involved in the development and execution of the portfolio's strategies. In essence, the MIC serves as a conduit of information and an access point for all students on campus interested in learning more about financial markets and the financial services industry. The MIC won the Management Undergraduate Society Club of the Year Award in 2009 and 2011 as well as the Students Society of McGill Universitys Student Group of the Year Award in 2011. Awarded for outstanding contribution by both the Desautels Faculty of Management and McGill University, these awards demonstrate our long-standing commitment to success and professional execution.
