Assessment to be reviewed upon significant change or where there is a reason to suspect that the original assessment is no longer valid. Good standards of housekeeping to be maintained. Cables to be correctly routed or suitably covered. Suitable and sufficient lighting levels are to be maintained. Routine inspections by managers/supervisors. Assessments to be undertaken in accordance with the Manual Handling Operation Regulations 1992. Employees to receive adequate information, instruction and training to permit safe working. Only one drawer to be opened at a time. Close drawers when not in use. Store heavy items at bottom of cabinets. When purchasing new cabinets ensure they are of the anti-tilt type. Do not pile materials on top of filing cabinets. Display warning signs. All areas where objects are likely to fall to be provided with suitable edge protection. Visual inspection prior to use on each occasion. Steps and ladders should only be used for access or short duration work following completion of a risk assessment. Contractors must provide their own access equipment. Under no circumstances should contractors be permitted to utilise company equipment. All steps/ladders to be of suitable rating. Domestic type steps/ladders, as determined by British standards, are not acceptable. Suitable safe system of work to be devised, written, communicated and implemented. Formal inspections to be carried out periodically.

Good housekeeping. All skips to be sited as far from buildings and vehicles as possible. Lids to be used. Authorised contract for disposal. Refuse to be disposed of in appropriate bins. Refuse attractive to rodents should only be disposed of in bins with close fitting lids. Incineration of refuse is not to be permitted without prior authorisation. All luminaries are to be maintained. All diffusers are to be regularly cleaned. External lighting is to be positioned so as not to impair drivers vision or cause inappropriate shadow. Selection of contractors procedure to be adopted. Communication and consultation with contractors. Exchange of Risk Assessments and COSHH Assessments with contractors. Contractual specifications. Approval and authorisation of contractors. Periodic audit and review of contractors. Authorised personnel only to use these machines. All guards to be in place before and during use. All machines to be maintained in accordance with manufacturers instructions. All machines to be maintained by competent persons. All paper to be removed to external refuse areas as appropriate and at least daily. Operatives not to wear loose clothing. Entanglement of hair should be considered before operation of these machines. Blockages should only be cleared by trained personnel.
