Goa to host first Nightlife Convention 2013
Goa to host first Convention on India's nightlife industry at Nightlife Convention 2013 from October 4th.
The Convention holds significance against the backdrop of various pressing issues, like time restrictions
to name a few, plaguing the nightlife in metros.
India, Russia to hold joint military exercise Indira 2013 in Rajasthan
India and Russia will hold a joint military exercise, Indira 2013, in Rajasthan to enhance interoperability
between the two armed forces. The bi-annual exercise will be conducted at the Mahajan field firing
range in the Rajasthan from October 18 to 28. The two countries have already conducted six Indra-series
joint drills since the first exercise conducted in 2003.
Companies allocate nearly 30% of energy spend is on diesel: Survey
Companies allocate nearly 30% of their energy spend on diesel, primarily to run generators, a survey by
Schneider Electric and Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy showed that on an average 300
companies covered spent around Rs 3.4 crore annually, of which around Rs 1 crore was spent on diesel
to fire generators. Firms in Mumbai have highest energy bill followed by Delhi, but adoption of energy
efficiency tools is 50% greater in non-metros, the survey showed.
West Bengal Government launches scheme Yuvasree to give financial assistance to registered
unemployed
The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on 4th October 2013 launched a scheme named
Yuvasree to give financial assistance of 1500 rupees per month to the registered unemployed.
Archaeological Survey of India -Google tie-up for launch of project to put 100 heritage sites online
The government of India on 4th October 2013 launched a unique project to put 100 most important
Indian heritage sites online. The sites include the Taj Mahal, Khajuraho and the Ajanta and Ellora caves.
An agreement to this effect was reached at between the Archaeological Survey of India and Google in
New Delhi in presence of Union Culture Minister Chandresh Kumari Katoch.
Kamini Kaushal Conferred Kalpana Chawla Excellence Award
The Kalpana Chawla Excellence Awards for Women to outstanding women achievers in memory of its
alumnus, late astronaut Kalpana Chawla. The awardees this year included 86-year-old actress Kamini
Kaushal, junior world chess champion Tania Sachdev, innovative educationist Minoti Bahri and Kathak
dancer Vidha Lal.

President Pranab Mukherji in Belgium on 3-day state visit


President Pranab Mukherji on a 3-day state visit to Belgium will have a meeting with Prime Minister Elio
De Rupo in Brussles. The meeting between the two leaders, delegation-level talks will also be held
during which a few agreements are likely to be signed between the two countries.
India tops global chart of remittances with $71 billion: World Bank Report
India has topped the global chart of remittances with a whopping $71 billion in remittances in 2013, just
short of three times the FDI it received in 2012, according to a revised World Bank forecast. Top
recipients of officially recorded remittances for 2013 are India (with an estimated $71 billion), China
($60 billion), the Philippines ($26 billion), Mexico ($22 billion), Nigeria ($21 billion), and Egypt ($20
billion).
Indian Railways with RINL to set up India's biggest forged wheel plant in UP
The Indian Railways on 4th October 2013 signed a pact with Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd.(RINL) to set up
the country's biggest Forged Wheel plant at Raebarelli in Uttarpradesh. The Forged wheel plant to be set
up at a cost of 1100 crore rupees at Lalganj will reduce India's dependence on imports of high speed
forged wheels for trains.
India, Bangladesh set to sign historic Motor Vehicles Agreement
India and Bangladesh are set to sign a historic deal wherein cargo trucks from both sides will be allowed
to ply within each others territories. This will be for the first time when India will enter such an
agreement with any of its neighbouring countries with which it has land connectivity. The agreement
known as the Motor Vehicles Agreement had been pending for more than five years now.
Ghana's FDA banned Indian Pharma Company Bliss GVS Pharma Limited
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) of Ghana has with immediate effect banned the importation and
distribution of all medicinal products manufactured by Indian Pharma Company Bliss GVS Pharma
Limited for manufactured a fake anti-malarial medicine (GSUNATE PLUS SUPPOSITORIES).
World's largest floating book fair aboard ship docks in Muscat
The World Largest Floating Book Fair aboard the ship, MV Logos Hope docked at Port Sultan Qaboos in
Muscat on 4th October 2013. Over the next five days it will be selling books for the cause of charity and
humanitarian services. MV Logos Hope is operated by GBA Ships EV, an international charitable
organization based in Germany and has sailed across 150 countries since 1979.

The U.S. is overtaking Russia as the worlds largest crude oil and natural gas producer due to the
