UN Fight Against AIDS 9) Eliminating Travel Restrictions Firstly, the UN have imposed restrictions on travel into certain countries

with the concern of the spread of HIV in mind. There are varying ways of dealing with restrictions on entry with some such as Oman, Sudan and the UAE completely barring entry to anyone who could be carrying the HIV virus, whereas some will deport their own nationals if they are found to be carrying the virus, for example Russia, Egypt and Uzbekistan. Whilst there are some very strict rules set by some countries to limit people who are HIV positive coming in, there are currently no countries who legally bar their own nationals from leaving their country if found to be carrying the HIV virus. In order to ensure that all those coming into a country where there are entry restrictions many will require all travellers to complete a mandatory test to ensure they are HIV free, whereas some will ask for medical records at random.

10) Strengthening HIV Integration Undoubtedly the UNs biggest campaign since its beginning regarding the prevention of HIV spreading etc. is what has been named Getting To Zero This strategy comprises of 3 main components, all of which they believe to be fully achievable providing that the countries they involve in the programme assert themselves to help with this mission: a) Zero New Infections - Sexual transmission of HIV to half, including between homosexual and younger partners, as well as those who work in the sexual industry. - Vertical (unborn child) transmission of HIV halved as well as AIDS related maternal mortality. - 0 cases of transmission to people who use drugs.

b) Zero AIDS-related Deaths - Universal access to antiretroviral treatment for those carrying HIV (providing they are eligible to receive it, medical condition may affect this). - TB Deaths among people living with HIV to be halved. - People affected with HIV and all the households affected by it should have adequate access to essential care and support via national social protection strategies.

c) To Achieve Zero Discrimination - The number of countries with punitive laws surrounding HIV transmission, sex work, drug use or homosexuality to be halved. - HIV related restrictions on entry, stay and residency to be halved in all of the countries who have such restriction in place. - The HIV-Specific needs of women and girls should be addressed in at least half of all national HIV responses/actions taken. - Zero tolerance for gender based violence or that as a result of stigma attached to carrying the HIV virus.

In addition to this, the UN believes that the three main components involved in ensuring that this plan is to succeed are People, Countries and Synergies. If they are to meet their target, the UN must have completed all or at least half of the goals outlined above by the end of the year 2015.
