EXPERIMENT - 9

1. Title: To study operation of OPAMP as non-inverting DC amplifier. 2. Aims:

a) b) c) d) e) To understand the working principle of OP-AMP as non inverting amplifier. To observe and calculate output voltage when OP-AMP works as non inverting amplifier. To calculate gain of amplifier. To understand the effect of feedback on amplifier. To understand the different parameters of the amplifier

3. Objectives: After completing the experiment, the student should be able:

a) To draw the input-output response of amplifier. b) To draw the frequency response of amplifier 4. THEORY: Non Inverting Amplifier: In this configuration, the input voltage signal, ( Vin ) is applied directly to the non-inverting ( + ) input terminal which means that the output gain of the amplifier becomes "Positive" in value in contrast to the "Inverting Amplifier" circuit we saw in the last tutorial whose output gain is negative

in value. The result of this is that the output signal is "in-phase" with the input signal. Feedback control of the non-inverting amplifier is achieved by applying a small part of the output voltage signal back to the inverting ( - ) input terminal via a R - R2 voltage divider network, again producing negative feedback. This closed-loop configuration produces a non-inverting amplifier circuit with very good stability, very high input impedance, Rin approaching infinity, as no current flows into the positive input terminal, (ideal conditions) and low output impedance, Rout as shown below

(Fig. OP amp as Non Inverting Amplifier)

5. Procedure:
1. Make the connections on OPT-01 board as shown in practical circuit. 2. Apply 1.4 V DC using VR1as input to op-amp. 3. Apply 15 V to op-amp. 4. Switch on power supply. 5. Vary i/p DC voltage from 1.4 to 5V and note down the corresponding readings of o/p voltage Vo.

6. Voltage Gain Observation:

7. Self Assessmetnt:
a) Explain the term CMRR, Input Offset voltage. b) Write the difference between inverting and non inverting amplifier.

8. Report should comprise of interpretation on following observations :

a. Ensure that the line supply is & the meters are properly working i.e., showing suitable deflections. b. Ensure that there is no metallic surrounding near the vicinity within 2 m from the trainer

kit.

9. Conclusion: Thus Gain for the designed non- inverting DC Amplifier is observed.
