f you should ask me what are the ways of God, I would tell you that the first is humility,

the second is humility, and the third is still humility. Not that there are no other precepts to give, but if humility does not precede all that we do, our efforts are fruitless. St Augustine of Hippo, Bishop and Doctor of the Church (354-430)

Pastoral Greeting Invitation to Join in the Life of the Community wEntrance Hymn. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Wind Who Makes All Winds That Blow
words: Thomas Troeger, 1983 tune St. Georges Windsor, at No. 422

Wind who makes all winds that blowgusts that bend the saplings low, Gales that heave the sea in waves, stirrings in the minds deep caves Aim your breath with steady power on your church, this day, this hour. Raise, renew the life weve lost, Spirit God of Pentecost. Fire that fuels all fires that burnsuns around which planets turn, Beacons marking reefs and shoals, shining truth to guide our souls Come to us as once you came: burst in tongues of sacred flame! Light and Power, Might and Strength, fill your church, its breadth and length. Holy Spirit, Wind and Flame, move within our mortal frame, Make our hearts an altar pyre, Kindle them with your own fire, Breathe and blow upon that blaze till our lives, our deeds and ways Speak that tongue which evry land by your grace shall understand.

Council Communiqu
Monday, October 21, 2013 After the opening prayer, the members of council were treated to delicious desserts prepared by Cindy Ober of Cindys Decadent Desserts. Cindy has worked for 30 years for Publix in their bakery department before recently starting her own business. Cindys presence was at the request of Peg Lindsey, Pastor Ron, and me. The purpose was to explain her situation and request permission to use our commercial kitchen on week days to bake her Decadent Desserts. As this arrangement would be of mutual benefit to a young lady struggling to start a small business and to Pilgrims due to specific donations and property improvements made to our kitchen, Council gave their approval pending assurance by the Lake County Tax Collector that this would not affect our not for profit tax situation. Pastor Ron has prepared a For-profit Space Usage Agreement and Cindy and our Treasurer, Peg Lindsey, will be going directly to the Tax Collector in the next few days for a ruling.

Announcements
Take a look at the sign up sheets for flowers and bulletins. There are plenty of open dates to sign up for! Assistive Listening Devices are available from the Ushers at the back table. If you need a hearing device, please ask an Usher. Pastors Discretionary Fund depends on your loose change. Save your nickels, dimes, and quarters during the month and remember to bring them in on the First Sunday of each month as a Communion Offering. If youd rather drop in a check instead, make it to PUCC and mark the memo line Pastors Discretionary Fund. Bucks for Cuts is a way to help cover the cost of keeping our grounds well-maintained. If you have an extra $1 bill in your pocket on the THIRD Sunday of each month, please drop it in the offering basket. This year we did not budget for weekly ads in the local papers but many agreed that we need to advertise our presence. We have been running ads in the Daily Sun and Daily Commercial, which cost us $30 per week total. If you feel passionately about continuing, please pick up a week or two of this cost, if you can. Please mark the memo line on your check advertising. If you have name(s) for our All Saints Remembrance next Sunday , please leave name(s) in the office TODAY. These can be names of anyone who has died in the year past.

Our normal business meeting started at 11:00 a.m. We approved the September 9 minutes and regular reports. Several of our ministry elders were not present, but Worship reported that they will be meeting next Sunday after church. The only committee report that was made was Building and Grounds. Thanks to Donna Fielding, we have been using Chuck, a local handy man, who is saving us mucho dinero because he can do small maintenance jobs for us. We reported on the progress of the Ham & Bean Supper, Trash and Treasure sale, Ad Hoc Decoration Committee, and Susie Patricks appointment to the Leesburg Food Bank Board. As part of their new Rental Agreement signed October 1, 2013 Restoration Fellowship has agreed to mow and clean up our entrance on the second Saturday of each month. Finally, Council decided that even though we are not required to provide Workers Compensation to Mary, it would be pennywise and pound foolish not to do so. NOTE: THE NEXT COUNCIL MEETING WILL BE ON MON, NOV 18TH AT 10:00 A.M. YOU ARE ALL WELCOME.
