FIRE TESTED DESIGN The W-K-M DynaSeal 210 ball valves are qualified under API Standard 607 except the 4 in. x 3 in. (100 mm x 80 mm) 750 and 1000 psi valves. The deep pocketed seat, locked in stem and body/tailpiece designs give this valve excellent fire tested characteristics. (The 4 in. x 3 in. (100 mm x 80 mm) 750 and 1000 psi valves do not have deep pocketed seats). SUPERIOR STEM JOURNAL DESIGN PREVENTS STEM SEIZURE The stem is designed with two internal O-ring grooves located on either side of a shallow grease groove. The top O-ring is a weather seal while the bottom one seals the stem bore against the line media. The stem gasket provides a backup seal. The shallow groove between the O-rings provides three benefits: prevents stem seizure reduces torque provides a space for lubricating grease applied at the factory during assembly. TFE BODY SEAL A TFE body seal is positioned between the line bore and tailpiece threads isolating the threads from the line media. DEEP RECESSED SEATS The seat is recessed into a deep machined pocket, which serves to surround and protect the seat on all sides. This design eliminates cold flow into the valve conduit where it can be damaged by the action of the ball or the flow medium. The result is extremely long service life. (Seats are not recessed in the 4 in. x 3 in. (100 mm x 80 mm) 750 and 1000 psi valves).
DEMCO/W-K-M introduced the unidirectional valve option in 1979 to provide relief to valves that might have water trapped in the body cavity and then be exposed to a temporary freeze. Since this option relies on a relief hole in the ball to relieve the excess pressure the valve is stamped with a directional flow arrow to be sure the side of the ball with the hole is installed upstream.
SEAL PIN DEVICE PROVIDED AS STANDARD ON 750 AND 1000 psi, 2 in., 3 in. AND 4 in. (50 mm, 80 mm AND 100 mm) REDUCED PORT VALVES. A secondary seal pin device for applying tamper detection seals is provided on these valves. These valves are a popular choice for production tank batteries where tamper detection seals are often required.

This chart is an abbreviated guide to the chemical resistance and pressure/temperature limitations of the seal materials used in the 310 valve series. Consult your DynaSeal distributor or the W-K-M factory regarding questions about trim selections.
SEAL CODE 01
SERVICE APPLICATION Seat and Tailpiece gaskets are of virgin TFE. Use where lading contamination from glass or other fillers is not desirable, such as in food service. Recommended for low temperature service to -50F (-46C). Also recommended for vacuum service. Seat material is TFE filled with inert materials for use at elevated temperatures and pressures. Same chemical resistance as Virgin TFE except slightly affected by hot concentrated alkaline solutions. Some chlorinated compounds can cause swelling. Also recommended for low temperature service -50F (-46C). Good for vacuum service. For general use at high pressures to temperature of 220F (104C). For general use at high pressures to temperature of 220F (104C). Used on socket weld end valves 3 in. (80 mm) bore size and smaller. High and low pressure block and bleed. General use for low pressure and abrasion resistance. Not suitable for steam. Good for vacuum service. Available in bore sizes to 3 in. (80 mm). HPT-2 is a special TFE formulation for use at temperatures above trim 42 capability. Best suited for constant temperature or constant pressure applications. Proven service in steam, hot oil, heat transfer fluids, hot resins, boiler feed water. Same chemical resistance as TFE. Slightly affected by hot, concentrated alkaline solutions. Some fluorinated compounds cause swelling. For use in high pressure applications. Temperature limited to 225F (107C) (1/4 in. to 3/4 in. (8 mm to 20 mm) bores only). Same as 42 except tailpiece gasket is filled TFE. Used on weld end valves 4 in. (100 mm) and larger. Special Stellite seats for use when hard faced metal seats are required for industrial applications including the pulp and paper industry. Leakage Class V. For temperatures to 600F (316C). SERIES 310
W-K-M DynaSeal 310 floating ball valves satisfy a wide range of applications. Available in a variety of standard and optional materials, in sizes from 1/4 in. (8 mm) to 4 in. x 3 in. (100 mm x 80 mm) and working pressures to 5000 psi. Engineered for heavy duty, maintenance free performance, the DynaSeal 310 valve is preferred for use in critical applications. SOUR OIL AND GAS SERVICE DynaSeal ball valves have served for years in gathering lines, manifolds and field processing units in sour oil and gas fields. They can be trimmed to conform with NACE MR0175 (Rev. 2002).
FLOATING BALL DESIGN DELIVERS TIGHT SEAL The ground and polished ball is free to float and mates perfectly with the conical seats for a positive, leakproof seal. Self cleaning and self adjusting, the ball is also pressure activated - the higher the line pressure, the tighter the seal.
310 Unibody 1/2 in., 3/4 in. x 1/2 & 1 in. x 3/4 in. (15 mm, 20 mm x 15 mm and 25 mm x 20 mm) Class 150 & 300 Flanged.
FIRE-TESTED FOR SAFETY All DynaSeal 310 valves are qualified under API standard 607 4th Edition. The pocketed seat and locked in stem design contributes to its excellent fire tested characteristics. Should the soft seats be destroyed by fire, the ball floats down stream, providing a tight metal to metal seal against the lip of the seat pocket. If the tailpiece seals are destroyed, the metal to metal tailpiece to body connection retards external leakage.

INDICATOR HANDLE The design of the handle permits installation on the stem in the correct position only, in alignment with the ball port. When the handle is aligned with the pipe, the valve is open. When the handle is perpendicular to the pipe, the valve is closed. LOCKING DEVICES Locking devices are standard on all 4 in. x 3 in. (100 mm x 80 mm) and smaller manually operated valves and permit locking in either the open or closed positions.

SERIES 310
W-K-M DynaSeal 310 floating ball valves satisfy a wide range of applications. Available in a variety of standard and optional materials, they may be specified in sizes from 4 in. (100 mm) to 14 in. (350 mm) and ASME/ANSI Class 150 and 300. ASME/ANSI Class 600 is available in sizes 4 in. (100 mm) through 8 in. x 6 in. (200 mm x 150 mm). Engineered for heavy duty, maintenance free performance, the DynaSeal 310 is commonly selected for a variety of applications in virtually any industry. CHEMICAL & PETROCHEMICAL PLANTS The list of chemical and petrochemical applications for DynaSeal ball valves is limitless. They are serving in many plastic plants handling such slurries as 40% vinyl chloride, in high pressure catalyst lines and in processes handling dry lading such as polyethylene and polystyrene powders. There are hundreds of applications in such plants where DynaSeals are providing efficient service. REFINING DynaSeal is the workhorse of the refining industry. The many metal seats, seals and available trims offer the versatility needed to handle the wide variety of products used in the refining process. HIGH TEMPERATURE SERVICE Special high temperature trims are available for DynaSeal 310 ball valves which provide for service to 600F (316C). This trim is excellent for steam service, hot oil, heat transfer fluids, boiler feed-water and similar applications. LOW TEMPERATURE SERVICE Standard trims accomodate temperatures to -20F (-29C). For temperatures to -50F (-46C); please consult factory. MAINTENANCE FREE PERFORMANCE Under most conditions, the DynaSeal 310 floating ball valve will provide years of trouble free service with no maintenance required. In some severe applications, such as handling extremely abrasive slurries at high temperature, it may be necessary to replace the seats occasionally. Seat and seal kits are available and replacement can be done easily with ordinary tools. SOUR OIL AND GAS SERVICE DynaSeal ball valves have served for years in gathering lines, manifolds and field processing units in sour oil and gas fields. They can be trimmed to conform with NACE MR0175 (Rev. 2002).
TEFLON BODY SEAL A Teflon body seal is used between the valve body and tailpiece. DEEP RECESSED SEATS The seat is recessed into a deep machined pocket, which serves to surround and protect the seat on all sides. This design eliminates cold flow into the valve conduit where it can be damaged by the action of the ball or the flow medium. The result is extremely long service life. ADJUSTABLE, REPLACEABLE PACKING The inline valve stem packing through ASME/ANSI Class 300 consists of PTFE impregnated graphite with an impervious metal barrier. The packing is field adjustable and never requires lubrication. The packing and the stainless steel cap can be replaced without removing the valve from line. FUGITIVE EMISSIONS DynaSeal 310 ball valves through ASME/ANSI Class 300 can be supplied and certified to meet the requirements of fugitive emissions as regulated by The 1990 Amendment to The Clean Air Act. POSITIVELY RETAINED STEM The stem is positively retained and cannot be removed with the valve in service. INDICATOR HANDLE The design of the handle ASME/ANSI Class 300 permits installation on the stem in the correct position only, in alignment with the ball port. When the handle is aligned with the pipe, the valve is open. When the handle is perpendicular to the pipe, the valve is closed. FLOATING BALL DESIGN DELIVERS TIGHT SEAL The ground and polished ball is free to float and mates perfectly with the conical seats for a positive, leakproof seal. Self cleaning and self adjusting, the ball is also pressure activated. The higher the line pressure, the tighter the seal. GEAR MOUNTING BRACKETS FOR:

** Multiply Trim 42 Torque x 2 for Seat Seal Codes 60, 60A, 92H.
Note: The torque values listed for 285 psi and greater are based on valves controlling the flow of clean lubricating liquid at ambient temperature. For valves at pressure less that 285 psi use the value for 285 psi. Interpolation may be used for any pressure above 285 psi but less than maximum pressure listed. Running torque values will average two-thirds of these values. For running torque values less than breakaway torque values at 285 psi use breakaway torque values. Reseating torque is equal to breakaway torque. For operating temperatures between -20F to -50F (-29C to -46C) multiply these values by 1.20. These torque values do not contain service or safety factors. Actuator selection should be made based on experience and appropriate service and safety factors.

This applies to outlet pressure settings below 25 psig only. For pressure setting above 25 psig, outlet pressure is limited to 45 psig, the maximum emergency outlet pressure. This applies to outlet pressure settings below 350 psig only. For pressure setting above 350 psig, outlet pressure is limited to 550 psig, the maximum emergency outlet pressure. Internal parts of the regulator may be damaged if the outlet pressure exceeds the pressure setting beyond the amounts shown.
The sum of the outlet pressure setting and the maximum allowable pressure drop determines the maximum allowable inlet pressure for a given installation. For example, with a 1/2 port diameter (maximum pressure drop of 250 psi) and a 400 psig outlet pressure setting, the maximum inlet pressure is 650 psig (250 psi plus 400 psig).

Installation
WARNING
Personal injury, property damage, equipment damage, or leakage due to escaping gas or bursting of pressure-containing parts may result if this regulator is overpressured or is installed where service conditions could exceed the limits given in tables 1 through 4 or where conditions exceed any ratings of the adjacent piping or piping connections. To avoid such injury or damage, provide pressure-relieving or pressure-limiting deeFisher Controls International, Inc. 1955, 1990; All Rights Reserved
vices (as required by the appropriate code, regulation, or standard) to prevent service conditions from exceeding those limits. Additionally, physical damage to the regulator could cause personal injury or property damage due to escaping gas. To avoid such injury or damage, install the regulator in a safe location. Before installing, inspect the unit for any damage and any foreign material. The regulator or relief valve may be mounted in any position, however ensure that the flow direction corresponds with the direction of the arrow on the nameplate. Apply a good grade of pipe compound to the male threads of the pipeline.

outdoor location away from air intakes, windows, etc. Protect all vent openings against weather or the entrance of any foreign material that may plug the vent or affect operation of the regulator or relief valve. Inspect all vent openings periodically to be sure they are not plugged. If the vent is in an environment where freezing rain, ice, or snow could clog the vent, it is recommended that a weatherproof vent be used.

1. Inlet pressure must not exceed the sum of the actual outlet pressure setting and the maximum allowable pressure drop. For example, with an outlet pressure setting of 200 psig (13.7 bar) and a 3/8-inch (9.5 mm) orifice with a maximum allowable pressure drop of 500 psi (34.5 bar, differential), the maximum allowable inlet pressure is 700 psig (48.3 bar). 2. Nitrate valve disks are normally furnished for pressure drops to 200 psi (13.7 bar,
differential). For better erosion resistance, nylon valve disks are normally furnished for higher pressure drops. Some erosion of valve disks occurs at all pressure drops due to solid particles in the flow stream. The rate of erosion is higher with large amounts of impurties in the flow stream and with high pressure drops. Valve disks and other regulator parts must be inspected periodically for erosion and damage and must be replaced as necessary.

Spring-loaded constructions have a screened vent assembly (key 27, figures 5, 6 and 7) installed in the 1/4-inch NPT spring case vent opening. If a remote vent is required, remove the vent assembly and install a remote vent line.
Refer to the following tables to determine pressure ratings: 1. Spring-loaded Type 630 regulators. a. Inlet pressure and pressure droptable 2. b. Outlet pressuretable 3. 2. Spring-loaded Type 630R relief valve pressuretable 4.
Overpressure Protection
As is the case with most regulators, the Type 630 springloaded regulators have outlet pressure ratings that are lower than the inlet pressure ratings. Overpressure protection must be provided if the actual inlet pressure can exceed the outlet pressure rating. Overpressure protection is also required for the loading regulator and main regulator spring case of relief valves.
WARNING
Overpressuring any portion of this equipment may cause damage to regulator parts, leaks in the regulator, or personal injury due to bursting of pressure-containing parts or explosion of accumulated gas.

1. Leakage or bursting of pressure-containing parts may occur if inlet pressure exceeds these values.
To avoid overpressure, provide an appropriate overpressure protection device to ensure that none of the limits listed in tables 1 through 4 will be exceeded. Regulator or relief valve operation below the limits specified in tables 1 through 4 does not preclude the possibility of damage from external sources or from debris in the gas line. Inspect the regulator for damage after any overpressure condition.
constructions or 200 psig (14 bar) for high pressure constructions, or damage to internal regulator parts may occur. However, with some higher pressure ranges, the setting plus 20 psig (1.4 bar) or 200 psig (14 bar) exceeds the maximum emergency outlet (casing) pressure. Before increasing the setting, refer to tables 3 and 4 (as appropriate). Review the pressure limits for the spring range being used, and be certain that the new pressure setting will not result in an overpressure condition. Always use a pressure gauge to monitor pressure when making adjustments.
Startup
Starting up the unit consists of opening the upstream block valve, introducing gas pressure. Use gauges to monitor pressures during startup. The range of allowable pressure settings is marked on the nameplate. If a pressure setting beyond the nameplate range is required, substitute an appropriate spring selected from table 6. Be sure to change the nameplate to indicate the new pressure range.
Shutdown
WARNING
To avoid the consequences of over-tightening the spring in spring-loaded regulators or relief valves, consult table 5 and replace the adjusting screw with one of the correct length when replacing the spring. Some pressure ratings are dependent upon the actual outlet pressure settings being used. For example, with a Type 630 regulator, outlet pressure must not exceed the setting by more than 20 psig (1.4 bar) for low pressure Slowly close the upstream block valve.
Principle Of Operation
This section describes the operation of the Type 630 regulator and the Type 630R relief valve with spring loading. Set pressure is changed with the adjusting screw on the regulator or relief valve. The Type 630R relief valve uses a light spring for added stability.

the pressure system and release all pressure from the regulator or relief valve before performing maintenance. Except where indicated, key numbers in the following procedures are shown in figures 5 and 6 for the Type 630 regulator, in figure 7 for the Type 630R relief valve.
Replacing Orifice, Valve Disk, and Lever Type 630R Relief Valves
Refer to figure 4. In the relief valve construction, inlet pressure registers beneath the diaphragm. As long as the inlet pressure is less than the set pressure, spring force causes the lever to hold the valve closed. When the inlet pressure exceeds the set pressure, the diaphragm moves to compress the spring and the lever opens the valve allowing inlet pressure to bleed into the downstream line or to atmosphere until the inlet pressure returns to set pressure. Note With some piping systems it may be possible to omit step 1 below by removing four cap screws (key 17) and spreading the body (key 23) and inlet adaptor (key 18) far enough apart to allow removal of the orifice (key 20) and Type 630 valve disk (key 21, figures 5 and 6) or the orifice (key 20) and the Type 630R valve seat O-ring (key 37, figure 7).
Maintenance
Parts are subject to normal wear and must be inspected and replaced as necessary. Frequency of inspection depends upon severity of service conditions.
CAUTION
If step 1 is omitted and the body and inlet adaptor are separated, take care to avoid pinching fingers between the body and the inlet adaptor. 1. Disconnect piping from inlet adaptor (key 18). Remove four cap screws (key 17) and adaptor. 2. Remove orifice (key 20) and gaskets (key 19).
5
WARNING
To avoid personal injury or equipment damage, isolate the regulator or relief valve from
630 Series
3. To remove Type 630 valve disk (key 21, figures 5 and 6) or Type 630R valve seat O-ring (key 37, figure 7), first disconnect remote vent pipe (if one is used). 4. Unscrew the two cap screws (key 31, not shown) that secure diaphragm adaptor (key 13) to body (key 23); remove diaphragm adaptor and attached spring case (key 3). 5. If it is necessary to replace the lever (key 14), drive out the pin (key 15) and slide the lever out of the diaphragm adaptor. When replacing the lever, make sure the slot engages the connector assembly (key 12) and replace the pin.
6. Remove valve carrier assembly (key 22) from body. 7. To replace seating surface: a. For Type 630, use a 3/4-inch socket wrench to remove and re-install valve disk and holder assembly (key 21, figures 5 and 6). b. For Type 630R, unscrew machine screw (key 36, figure 7) and remove O-ring washer and O-ring (keys 32 and 37, figure 7) from O-ring holder (key 21, figure 7). When reassembling, apply a good-quality gasket shellac to the machine screw thread. 8. Use new orifice gaskets (key 19) and body gasket (key 16) when reassembling. Insert valve carrier assembly (key 22) into the body before re-installing the diaphragm adaptor.
Note The spring case (key 3) must point away from the inlet adaptor (key 18) on Type 630 regulators as shown in figures 5 and 6. On Type 630R relief valves, the spring case must face the same direction as the inlet adaptor (key 18) as shown in figure 7.
