This Topos present 4 of the rock climbing areas in
Slovenia that is regarded to be the best. Osp and
Misja pec near the Italian border offers mainly hard
climbing and has extremely many routes from 8a
and up. Crni kal, located only a couple of kilometres
from Osp, offer a nice crag and surroundings also
suitable for families.
Bled, with several crags, is considered to be one
of the most beautiful areas in Slovenian. Suited
on the border to the Julian Alps, with emerald-
green lakes, castles on top of Limestone
crags the area is very special. Easy access
to most of the crags and superb climbing.
Kotecnik is also considered to be one
of the top areas for rock climbing in
Slovenia, embedded in the forest
the crags are the most popular
crag in Slovenia during hot
summer month.
Often the cheapest flights is to be found
to Venice, and because of that we also
present Napoleonica, an area just at the outskirts of Trieste. Medium quality climbing but with a
beautiful view over the Golfo di Trieste.
Vela Draga offer a magic atmosphere where water and wind actions have created unique rock
formations. If you visit this area, Vela Draga should be on your list of places to visit.
The area has a nice climate and rock climbing is possible even in the winter, though December
to the end of February is unpredictable and especially in Bled and Kotecnik you might meet snow.
Most of the population talks good English, in the areas near Italy Italian is also well understood,
people are friendly and Slovenia is healthy.

How to find the way to these crags:
In this Topos you will find mainly crags in Slovenia, however, the
flights with low cost is often to be found to Venice, Italy. Because
of that we also present Napoleonica in the Topos. Limestone crags
just at the outskirts of Trieste, at the border to Slovenia.
On the highway from Venice to Trieste, pass the Lisert toll station
and continue to the Prosecco exit. Turn left and follow the signpost
for Santuario Monte Grisa. In a T-junction, turn right (see map, T-
junction Monte Grisa/Tempio mariana - Venezia SS202). After about
100 metres, turn left (Strada Vicentina) and park at the car park.
This is a popular crag and in combination with the town and the
nightlife a perfect place.
The Santuario Monte Grisa is a very characteristic building easy to
locate from the road by the cost-line.
Climbing is in many cases just from the road, easy accessible and
with a nice view over Trieste.

How to find the crag:
Osp and Misja pec. Drive from Koper in the
direction of Ljubljana on road nr. 409. After 11
km, just before a sharp bend, turn left on a
small road that leads to Gabrovica and Osp.
400 metres before you reach the village Osp
a small gravelled road to the right will take you
to a big car park. Park and walk for about 10
minutes to the crag. In Osp, drive in to the
village and take the small road to the left that
leads down to the camping ground. Park here.
Walk in the direction of the crags, turn left
outside the fire station and continue in the
direction of the Church. Just before the Church,
turn right and follow the road to the crag. To
reach the other sector with multi pitch routes,
walk from the camping in the direction of Misja
pec, turn left just after the dry river and follow
the track to the crag.
Crni Kal. Continue on the road from Koper to
Ljubljana, pass the turn of for Crni Kal and
continue 2,5 km and turn right in the direction
of Podgorje/Crnotice. Turn right after 1 km in
the direction of Crnotice. Turn right after 600
metres onto a small gravelled road just by a
transformation station, continue 1,1 km and
park just by the crag. This crag is very nice for
families, easy to reach and it has flat ground
by the crag.

How to find the crag:
Osp and Misja pec. Drive from Koper in the
direction of Ljubljana on road nr. 10. After 11 km,
just before a sharp bend, turn left on a small road
that leads to Gabrovica and Osp. 400 metres before
you reach the village Osp a small gravelled road
to the right will take you to a big car park. Park and
walk for about 10 minutes to the crag. In Osp, drive
in to the village and take the small road to the left
that leads down to the camping ground. Park here.
Walk in the direction of the crags, turn left outside
the fire station and continue in the direction of the
Church. Just before the Church, turn right and
follow the road to the crag. To reach the other
sector with multi pitch routes, walk from the camping
in the direction of Misja pec, turn left just after the
dry river and follow the track to the crag.

Crni Kal. Continue on the road from Koper to Ljubljana,
pass the turn of for Crni Kal and continue 2,5 km and turn
right in the direction of Podgorje/Crnotice. Turn right after
1 km in the direction of Crnotice. Turn right after 600 metres
onto a small gravelled road just by a transformation station,
continue 1,1 km and park just by the crag.
This crag is very nice for families, easy to reach and it has
flat ground by the crag.

How to find Vela Draga:
From Reka (Rijeka), drive in the
direction of Pazin/Buzet. After
25 km you will drive through the
Tunnel of Ucka. Turn right just
after the tunnel and then turn
left in the T-junction. Park on
the left side of the road after 500
metres just before a small
bridge. Walk in the direction of
the house, pass that, a garage
and some houses for animals
and continue on this road which
will become a track, marked with
red/white marks. After about five
minutes you will reach the crags.

Follow the track when it turns left
down in a cleft. About 20 metres down
you will find the first route. The easy
way to acquaint oneself with the area
is to follow the track down to crag
number 2, a characteristic crag with
a natural tunnel going through it.

Slovenia, crags around Bled
About:
Bled and the surrounding area is regarded to be the nicest area for
recreation in Slovenia, with its pre-Alp scenery, lakes, ski areas and
beautiful nature.
From Bled it will take you about 1,5 hour to reach Osp, and it will take
you the same time to reach Vela Draga. All together, Slovenia and
Vela Draga in Croatia offers a perfect combination of climbing, nature,
culture and we assume everyone would be satisfied after a week or
two.
Those crags, all near the tourist village Bled, offers a lot of routes in
various grades, often perfect for families, near water and with shops,
camping grounds, quite sheep pensions and all you need for a
successful trip.

How to find the crag:
Drive from Bled in the direction of
Bohinjska Bistrica, in the village, turn right
in the direction of the recreation area
around the lake Bohinjsko jezero. Turn
left when you see the lake and pass the
Hotel jezero. Park at a big car park after
about 50 metres. To reach crag no. 1.
continue by foot on the road towards
Hotel Bellevue, turn right about 100 before
you reach the Hotel on to a track/small
road that leads to the crag. To reach no.
2. Walk directly in the direction of the
crag, after about 50 metres you will find
the crag rising above a bar. A perfect
spot for families with bath, beautiful views
and a lot of activities.

How to find the crag:
Drive from Bled in the direction of Bohinjska Bistrica, in the village, turn right in the direction of
the recreation area around the lake Bohinjsko jezero. Turn right and pass over the bridge, park
on a car park just after the church. Continue to the right, pass the boarding-house Penzion Bohinj
and continue about 500 metres on the road. Take the marked track to the left to reach the crag.

How to find the crag:
This is a very nice crag, easy to access and with nice climbing.
Drive from Bled in the direction of Bohinjska Bistrica, turn right to reach the
small village Bitnje. As you reach the first house, park at the grass on the left side
of the road. Follow the track and in a cross (marked Plesalisce), turn left on to a small
track to reach the crag.

How to find the crag:
Not the best crag, but a beautiful place just by a small brook, and perfect for a family
with children.Drive from Bled in the direction of Bohinjska Bistrica, Turn right by a Bus
stop in the cross for the small village Log, continue 600 metres on a small road and
park just before the brook. Follow the road/track by the brook and after about 250 metres,
cross the brook and follow the small track in the direction of the crag. On the left side
of the brook you will find two small crags with some more routes.

A superb crag with hard routes
and a nice place. Drive from
Bled in the direction of
Bohinjska Bistrica, Turn right in
the direction of Bohinjska Bela,
continue through the village and
park on the side of the road
(dont block the road). Follow
the road through the village and
soon it will become a gravelled
road. A nice walk for 1 km and
you will reach the crag suited
on the right side of the road in
the wood. Continue if you want
to reach a beautiful sight seeing
point.

direction of Bohinjska Bistrica, Turn right in the
direction of Bohinjska Bela, continue through the
village and park on the side of the road (dont

direction of the crags. After a left bend, turn right

How to find the crag:
The crag is to be found 5 minutes walk
from the small village Kupljenik. Drive
from Bled in the direction of Bohinjska
Bistrica, pass the junction for Bohinjska
Bela and shortly after, turn left follow
signpost for Kupljenik. Follow the road
through the village, hold right in a Y-
junction and in a sharp bend, turn in to
a small road to the right and park.
Continue on the track to the crag.

How to find the crag:
Near Celje those nice crags is hidden in the forest. Kotecnik offers nearly 300 routes and the
climbing is very good.
Turn of the highroad A1 in the direction of Zalec. As you have left the highroad, turn again in
the direction of Arja vas/Petrovce and continue on this road to Liboje. Drive through Liboje
and continue for 3,5 km on a quite small road in the direction of Zabukovica. In a sharp bend
a gravelled road turns of to the right, park at the car park to the right of this road and walk up
to the farm and the crags.
To reach Kamnik, continue to Zabukovica and then to the village Grize. Pass Grize and then
turn left after the village in the direction of Matke. Just before Matke a small road continue
straight forward where the road turns right, park and follow that road, signposted for Kamnik.
Follow the track, pass the farm Baloh and after 15 to 20 minutes you will reach the crag.
