WHAT IS CCTE ONLINE?

CCTE Online is a new project funded by the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) to address the needs of military dependent students and all students. The project will offer 15 of the current CTE introductory or intermediate courses in an online format using SDUSD teachers to teach SDUSD courses. Many of these courses offer UC credit or community college credit. These free courses are available for all students in SDUSD with parent and counselor approval, with priority given to military or federal employee dependents.

aNATOMY AND pHYSIOLOGY for health careers

Being a doctor or a nurse are just some of the careers in healthcare. If you like computers, fitness, or even art, then a career in the biomedical field might be right for you! In this class, you will study all the organ systems in the human body, examine techniques in biotechnology, and explore related biomedical careers. Through web quests, virtual labs, and scholarly research, you will thoroughly examine human anatomy and physiology in addition to the careers inspired by the diversity and complexity of the human body.

bUSINESS 100

Learn how to start a business from the ground up! You will learn the elements needed to begin a business by examining marketing, advertising, and profit statements. During the planning of your business, you will use your creative side by creating a logo, promotional materials, and a website. cOMPUTER aPPLICATIONS

Learn the latest software by interning in the entertainment industr y! In this class you will be introduced to the applications used in industr y to create documents such as press releases, scripts, travel itineraries, advertisements, schedules, marketing plans, and business letters. You will also learn business practices, workplace skills, and other necessar y tools for success.

Contemporary Communications

Learn to master one of the all-time most important life skills communication while also earning your senior year English credit! You will explore how communication plays a major role in ever y walk of life. Get the chance to practice skills necessar y to be become expert communicators in your personal relationships, public speaking, school, career workplace, and the global community.

hUMAN pSYCHOLOGY AND fAMILY sOCIOLOGY

This exciting course includes the emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development of people from prenatal development through adolescent years. Also included is how the environment and genetics play a part in all areas of development. The second semester includes more psychology and sociology topics such as the dynamics of relationships, psychological games people play, and much more. This course helps prepare you for life.

Intro to Criminal Justice

Have you ever wanted to be a police officer, crime scene investigator or an attorney? Even if you just like solving crimes for fun, this is the class for you! This highly interactive course includes crime scene investigation games, inter views with San Diegos most famous crime solvers, while also learning about careers in criminal justice. During this course, the U.S. Constitution, as well as federal and California laws, will be your guide for protecting your rights and the rights of the accused. Discover crime prevention and how to build a safer community.

Intro to Engineering Design

Get your creativity on as you design 3 -D computer models for a video game concept that you will develop throughout the course. Discover through hands-on projects the processes engineers use to turn ideas into products. Acquire the skills to document and effectually communicate your creations to the community of engineers and fabricators - the people who make stuff! Do it all while understanding the impact your designs would have on the world around you.

You will explore the role of nutrients in the body and their relationship to health. This course is designed to build on your existing knowledge and provide a solid grounding in nutrition, metabolism, disease prevention and health promotion. You will learn how to incorporate nutritional guidelines into menu planning and recipe development, as well as how to adapt those guidelines in your own life!
