SHEET METAL - Sheet metal is simply metal formed into thin and flat pieces.

It is one of the fundamental forms used in metalworking, and can be cut and bent into a variety of different shapes.

Thicknesses can vary significantly, although extremely thin thicknesses are considered foil or leaf, and pieces thicker than 6 mm (0.25 in) are considered plate. The thickness of the sheet metal is called its gauge. The gauge of sheet metal ranges from 30 gauge to about 8 gauge. The larger the gauge number, the thinner the metal

Sheet metal has applications in car bodies, airplane wings, medical tables, roofs for buildings and many other things.

Start the part and then convert it to sheet metal. (Go to application/sheet metal/select driving surface) Go to assembly > insert > create > sheet metal

Angle bend- An angle bend creates a bend with a specified radius and angle . Roll bend- A roll bend creates a bend with a specified radius , but the resulting angle is determined by the radius and amount of material to bend .

When a sheet metal is developed or bent, the material on the outside of the neutral bend plane stretches while the material on the inside of the neutral bend plane compresses . This results in developed length .

L = ( /2 * R + y * T )theta/90 L= Developed length k= /T y=( /2)*k R = Inside radius T = Material thickness Theta = Bend angle Y- factors and k factors are part constants defined by the location of the sheet metal materials neutral bend line which is largely based on hardness the material .

The numeric value of k ranges from 0 to 1.
