Objective & Scope


Objective The objective of this SOP is to provide system and instructions to the executors for carrying out safe and sound flushing of Mixed Bed Polisher in order to make safe operation without any incident. Scope This SOP describes safety considerations and other requirements for carrying out effective flushing procedure of mixed bed polisher at EEAP.

4. Checklist of Flushing procedure of MBP:

Ensure that no other person is present in the area other than plant operator. Ensure that all the vessels and tanks have been firmly secured to the foundation and the piping is well fixed by the supports. Check that Feed water of specified quality, quantity, and pressure is available. Ensure that treated water supply is connected to the treated water storage tank. Ensure that dust and oil free instrument air is available at the required pressure. Ensure that 30% w/w HCl solution is ready in the acid dosing tank. Ensure that 50% w/w NaOH solution is ready in the acid dosing tank. Check that all interlocks and indication lights on the panel are properly set.

Ensure all pipe fittings are tight.

Check that power supply is available.

Ensure no leakage is present in the system.

Ensure PPE`s regulations are followed.

Ensure raw water supply to shower is available. Ensure raw-water supply near chemical tanks for leakage observation.

Procedure: SERVICE/ EXHAUSTION:

LOOP #1:

Open flange of main discharge line (from vessel) from SS main line. Start Feed water pump and open its discharge valve. Open valve#1, allow water to flow into the vessel from top and leaves the bottom. Water leaves the flange through manual opening of valve#2. Procedure is continued till cleaned water is achieved which ensures complete flushing of lines.

LOOP #2:

SERVICE/ EXHAUSTION:

1. Start Feed water pump and open its discharge valve. 2. Open valve#3, allow water to flow into the vessel from bottom and leaves the top. 3. Water leaves the tower from top and valve#4 and valve#10 is open manually and water is drained.

4. Procedure is continued till cleaned water is achieved which ensures complete flushing of lines.

LOOP #3:

REGENERATION:

1. Fill the storage tank with water, open valve to allow water to flow from main storage tank to dosing tank. 2. Start dosing pumps. 3. Start Feed water pump and open its discharge valve. 4. Open valve#5 manually, allow water to flow into the vessel from bottom and leaves the top. 5. Water leaves the tower from top and valve#6 is open manually and water is drained. 6. Procedure is continued till cleaned water is achieved which ensures complete flushing of lines. 7. Open valve#7 manually, allow water to flow into the vessel from bottom and leaves the top. 8. Water leaves the tower from top and valve#6 is open manually and water is drained. 9. Procedure is continued till cleaned water is achieved which ensures complete flushing of lines.
