FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
THE SECOND MUHIMBILI UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH AND ALLIED SCIENCES SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE MAY 14-16TH, 2014 DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) announces its second scientific conference that will be organized with support from Sida (Sweden) and other development partners. We welcome all researchers, local and international, working in various areas of health to share their research findings with other stakeholders in this conference. The Conference will be held at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) campus, Dar es Salaam from the 14th 16th May 2014.

N.B. 1. Abstract submissions that are related to the MUHAS 2nd Scientific conference 2014 themes and subthemes are encouraged, but abstracts on other topics in health may be considered

CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS Presentations will be in the form of oral or posters. Guidelines for Preparation of Abstracts All abstracts should be in English. Use appropriate words and correct grammar. The abstracts should have a maximum of 300 words. Authors are urged to ensure that their abstracts do not contain spelling, grammatical or scientific errors, as they will be reproduced as submitted. The abstracts should contain the following information in the order provided: Title: Title which clearly indicates the nature of the investigation, not exceeding fifteen words Authors names: Provide authors full names. Underline the presenters name Affiliation: Provide authors institutions and addresses. In case of multiple institutions, identify them by roman numbers The main body of the abstract should be structured with the following sub-headings: Background Aim Methods Results Conclusion Corresponding authors contacts: E-mail and telephone number Registration and abstract submission: Registration and submission of abstract should be done electronically. Registration should be done via MUHAS website at www.conference.muhas.ac.tz., which will be available from the 30th of November 2013 Abstract presentation is not a prerequisite for attending the conference. On submitting the abstract, provide registration information to the Secretary Scientific Committee, Dr. G. Frumence (frumencegasto@yahoo.co.uk) and copy it to the Chairperson Scientific Committee, Dr. D. Mloka (dmloka@muhas.ac.tz, dmloka@yahoo.com). Deadline for submission of abstract is 18th January 2014. Upon submission of the abstract, indicate choice of presentation i.e. oral or poster, but final decision will be at the discretion of the Scientific Committee.

Mode of Presentation: The official language of the conference will be English. Ten (10) minutes will be allocated for each oral presentation, and 5 minutes for discussions. All poster presentations should conform to the following measurements: Size: 120 cm length and 90 cm width Font size: Minimum of 24` Poster presenters must be present during poster session. Letter of invitation After registration, letters of invitation will be sent to conference participants. The invitation letter will be meant to assist participants to process permission as well as requesting for financial support from their employers.
