8. General Drawing Standards

The drawings shall comply with AS1100 and the relevant discipline. AS1100.101-1992 and AS1100.101-1992/Amdt1-1994: Technical drawing General principles. AS1100.201-1992 and AS1100.201-1994/Amdt-1994: Technical drawing Mechanical engineering drawing. AS1100.301-1985 and AS1100.301 Supp 1-1986: Architectural drawing. AS/NZS1100.501:200: Technical drawing Structural engineering drawing. AS1100.401-1984: Technical drawing Engineering survey and engineering survey design drawing.

Where this Manual and the Drafting Standards conflict this manual will take precedence but the intent of the Drafting Standards shall be considered. Where doubt exists refer to the Project Officer.

8.1. Line Attributes

The DPI - CD has adopted six line thicknesses to be used in the presentation of drawings. All drawing details are to be represented by using these line thicknesses. On electronic plans, single vector lines of specified colour are used to represent these line thicknesses. The correlation between line colour, weight and thickness is as shown in Table 2.1.1. When transferred to the DPI - CD, no other line colour/weight/thickness combination is to be supplied unless by agreement with the project officer. Line Thickness 0.18 mm 0.25 mm 0.35 mm 0.5 mm 0.7 mm 1.0 mm 0.25 mm Line Colour green white/black yellow red blue orange cyan 2 0 4 3 1 6 7 TABLE 2.1 # - Refer to discipline specific guidelines as they may differ slightly. Where additional clarity (e.g. presentation drawings) is required, the colours below should be used: Line Thickness 0.25 mm 0.35 mm 0.5 mm Brown Light Green 70 12 32 60 Colours Number Microstation AutoCAD Colours Number Microstation AutoCAD Microstation

NB. Where lines are required to be shown as background information or reduce density hatching, colour 8 (grey) for AutoCad (or colour 9 for MicroStation) should be used. AutoCAD users have an additional grey scales to be used, all of the shades of grey having some percentage of screening value assigned to that colour. This would include pen 255, 254, 253, 252, 251, 250, 9 and 8 having screening of 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 percent to each of the colour. These plot tables together with other DPI-CDs plot tables can be found in \\Plmhwymfp01\Business\CAD\Acad\Plot tables directory. When plotting an A1 size sheet at A3 the line widths should be halved (the reduction factor when reducing A1 sheets to A3 size sheets).

8.2. Text Attributes

The DPI - CD has adopted six text heights to be used in the presentation of drawings. All text on the drawings Page 11/ 37

CADD Manual

Version 1.3

is to be represented by using these text heights. The correlation between text colour, weight and height is as shown in Table 2.1.2. When transferred to the DPI, no other text colour/weight/height' combination is to be supplied unless by agreement with the project officer.

TABLE 2.1.2 # - Refer to discipline specific guidelines as they may differ slightly.

8.3. Standard Layer Names

The intent of the layering system is to have an intelligent naming structure that will allow any item/object to be turned off and not effect any other information on the drawing. The Contractor will be responsible for the consistent use of layer names throughout all of their drawing files, and data that is only relevant to each individual layer name should be on that layer. Layer names are subdivided into major and minor groups using the following format: #-**nnn , where # ----- is Discipline Identifier (A = Architectural, C = Civil, E = Electrical, H = Hydraulic, M = Mechanical, P = PAWA Projects and Designs, S = Structural, G = Survey). - ----- is the minus character. ** ---- is sub-types of each of the Discipline Identifiers (e.g. DIM = Dimension, TXT = Text, HAT = Hatch patterns, DSH = general dashed style lines). nnn -- is modifier relating to line thickness at full scale (e.g. 20,25,35,50,70,100). Otherwise leave blank. The use of layers has been standardized (Refer Attachment A.2 and B.2). As a general rule, a particular element should be generated on the appropriate layer. When deciding to place an element on a discrete layer consideration needs to be given as to whether there is an explicit need to have the element displayed or frozen e.g. when the file is to be used by other disciplines, they may need to turn off hatching, thus all hatching should be generated on the layer A-HATCH.

8.4. Standard Survey Codes

Refer to Attachment B.2.2. All survey shall be MicroStation (dgn) 3 dimensional files with GDA94 mapping standard, feature coding and modeling must be in accordance with the CD standards. No variations will be allowed to the codes, symbols, line styles. CADD Support has setup a MicroStation plug-in program to customize the colour table, cells, font, and line style on contractors MicroStation application, it can be loaded to contractors PC to have an additional MicroStation drop down menu ( CSMenu ), each item on this menu will automatic set the level, colour and line style to match the DPI - CDs standard on Attachment B.2.4. Please refer to CSMenuSetup.pdf file on \\plmhwymfp01\business\CAD\v8\SurveyStd\ directory for installation.

8.5. Colour Table

In MicroStation (*.dgn) file, the DPI - CDs colour table (colorSE.tbl) is attached to any DPI - CDs drawing, it can be detached to local drive and re-attaches back to another drawing, colorSE.tbl file is also available from Page 12/ 37

CADD Manual

Version 1.3

\\plmhwhbas01\msettings\v8\workspace\standards\data\ directory. In the case of necessary to show lines or filled area in lighter colour (e.g. Contour lines, to show text under filled area) on Monochrome printout, the CD has reserved colour 9 and 175 for this purpose. AutoCAD users (Architectural, Structural, Electrical, and Mechanical sections) wont be using different colour tables since the application uses only one standard colour table. Refer to Attachment B.5.

8.6. Standard Symbols

The standard cells for MicroStation are stored on CADD server (\\plmhwhbas01\msettings\v8\workspace\standards\cell\ directory) and the standard blocks for AutoCad are stored on Highway House server (\\plmhwymfp01\business\CAD\ACAD\Blocks\ directory). Only standard MicroStation hatch patterns shall be used for all *.dgn files and only standard AutoCAD hatch patterns shall be used for all *.dwg or *.dxf files. Refer to Attachment A.3 and B.3 for more details.

8.8. Font
DPI -CD requires true Type Font Arial be used when presenting concept and detail design drawings. For other presentations, the following criteria should be met: The font is vector based. General form of characters to be as per ISO 3098/1 type B upright. Cell size / aspect ratio to be 1. Characters to be monospaced. To comply with these requirements it is suggested to use the fonts shown in Table 2.1.3 with the nominated applications. For all text unless otherwise specified. Page 13/ 37

Version 1.3

Table 2.1.3 # - Refer to discipline specific guidelines as they may differ slightly. All special fonts used in the production of drawings are to be supplied by the Contractor, e.g. special fonts use in Company logo.

8.9 Reference Files

Reference files are design or raster files that can be attached and displayed, plotted, and (in the case of reference design files) used for construction purposes, but they cannot be modified in any way. They improve the efficiency of the CADD process by displaying data from different design files in the active file. When one of the referenced drawings is changed that change is reflected in every design file that the file has been referenced into. When drawing data is supplied to the DPI - CD that has attached reference files, DPI-CD prefer the attached files to merge or bind into the drawing, AutoCAD users may use eTransmit to include all related dependent files with a zip file or a folder option in a transmittal package. Otherwise the following rules apply: All reference files required must be supplied. Files should not be saved with the full file path; otherwise the link to them will not be resolved by the CADD application, If it is not possible to supply the reference files then all the reference files should be combined into one drawing.

8.10 Standard Drawing Files

Standard drawing A-proto.dwt (Architectural), E-proto.dwt (Electrical) and M-proto.wdt files are loaded with all standard layers, dim styles, text styles and line styles can be downloaded from \\plmhwymfp01\business\CAD\ACAD\templates\ . In MicroStation, new drawings are created from a seed file (template), which contains default values for many parameters such as working units, dimensions, text font, etc. For Civil and Hydraulic drawings, two seed files are used; TW_2DC.dgn (for 2 dimensional drawings) and TW_3DC.dgn (for 3 Dimensional drawings), these files can be located on PLMHWHBAS server ( \\plmhwhbas01\msettings\v8\workspace\system\seed\ directory). After the project is completed, the drawing number and description of each drawing should be recorded on the Drawing Index.

8.11 Drawing Sheets

The DPI - CD has developed standard electronic drawing sheets in A1 and A3 with horizontal title blocks. (Refer to Attachment B.4 and A.3) they are available to be downloaded from \\plmhwymfp01\business\CAD\TitleBlocks\ . If the project requires a variation to this i.e. A0, B1, or A2 sheets, or vertical title blocks the Project Officer should be consulted.

8.12 Title Block

All official drawings are to be allocated a plan number, the drawing number is the unique project identifier used through the concept, development and implementation phases. This new number is to be raised by the Project Officer through Technical Records. All CAD drawing files to be submitted shall be clearly labeled with the following information Project Name

Page 14/ 37

CADD Manual File Name the Drawing Number the Date and Designer/Drafter Name

Version 1.3

Bar scales representing scales used on each drawing shall be placed along the right hand edge of the drawing sheet.
