Faisalabad is famous for its clock tower. The clock towers are also constructed in Multan, Sialkot, Samundari and some other parts of the country but the clock tower of Faisalabad has a different status among all others. Clock Tower is one of the oldest building still standing in

its original state from the period of the British Raj.It was built by the British, when they ruled much of the South Asia during the nineteenth century. The foundation of majestic Clock Tower was laid on 14 November 1903 by the British lieutenant governor of Punjab Sir Charles Riwaz and the biggest local landlord belonging to the Mian Family of Abdullahpur. It is interesting that eight bazaars are situated around the clock tower square and where ever any one goes the clock tower can be seen from there. These all eight roads were also constructed on the design of the Union Jack and these all meet at this Clock Tower spot. Now whole of this area is the busiest shopping center of the city and you can purchase almost every kind of your day to day need from these markets. There are total eight bazars four are large bazars they are: Amirpur Bazar, Jhang Bazar, Kar khana Bazar, Katchery Bazar And four are small bazars they are: Bhuwana Bazar, Mint gumri Bazar, Rail Bazar, Chiniot Bazar Therefore whenever any army general involves gets in to politics whether he is General Ayub Khan, Yahya Khan, Zia-ul-Haq and General Pervez Musharraf the news analysts give example of Faisalabad clock tower and express that as the clock tower is seen from all the eight bazaars, the army dictators had centralized powers around them. The clock tower Faisalabad is not only famous but it also has an historical background. The idea of Faisalabad clock tower was taken from the colonial British bureaucrat Poham. The construction of the regal clock was completed out of the finds collected by the Sikh property owners. The funds collected were given to the town committee which took the responsibility the complete the construction of Faisalabad clock tower. We can find the adverse opinions about the positive and negative notes about any dynasty during its rule but one factor which truly reflects the glory of that reign is the architectonics constructed during that period. The Faisalabad Clock Tower is also a prime example of British architecture which is locally known as Ghanta Ghar or Clock tower of Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan. Faisalabad Clock Tower was erected in the period of the British Raj over the undivided Indian Sub Continent by the British. This movement which is the most prominent historic movement of the second largest industrial city of Pakistan is preserved in its original form till today. This magnificently designed Clock Tower of Faisalabad was constructed out of the funds raised by the local agriculturists who collected it at a rate of Rs.18 per square of land. The fund thus raised was handed over to the Municipal Committee which undertook to complete the project.
