Project Design Documentation Check List Instructions

This is a draft document for use on Design-Build projects. As WSDOT works through Design-Build projects areas will be completed or revised as needed. Project team input on the development and use of this document is critical for it to be a useful tool on projects. The check list includes all the documentation required by the Design Manual for Design-Build Projects for both the Design Documentation Package (DDP) and the Project File (PF). The DDP is a permanent record of the design documents and decisions. It is submitted to the region for approval and archived for 75+ years. The Project File is kept in the Project Office and contains all documentation and data (such as quantity calcs, reports, correspondence) required for the project. The check list is based on the Design Manual for Design_Build Projects documentation requirements. The purpose of the checklist is to ensure that all applicable design elements are properly addessed in the project. It will also assist reviewers or other designers in locating information and determining what design decisions have been made. This check list will be used for Process and Stewardship reviews. Some chapters have supplemental check lists either for documentation requirements (3) or design parameters (3). Each supplemental chapter checklist can be accessed by clicking on the notation provided. Chapters with supplemental documentation requirement check lists are 210, 240, and 1300. Regions have developed the supplemental design parameter check lists for the specialty projects covered in Chapters 915, 1020, and 1060. Description - The Project Design Check List is organized to match the Design Manual for Design-Build Projects Chapters. Reference - This column gives the Design Manual for Design-Build Projects chapter or resources to refer to for criteria or requirements. Status - Review all items, referring to the appropriate matrix to determine whether the item is applicable for the project. Enter date, "completed" or "NA" for each item. If all the items in a chapter or division are not applicable, it can be hidden by pressing the "-" button on the left side-and then enter NA in the heading. When and By Whom - Identifies at what phase and who is responsible for documentation Remarks - List where the information can be found in the Design Documentation Package (DDP) or Project File (PF).

The shaded chapters are areas that the check list can be used as the documentation, when using this option include the checklist in the DDP
DESIGN ELEMENT - Items that relate to the matrix columns DESIGN MANUAL Reference - The chapter or figure in the Design Manual that establishes the criteria for this design element. MATRIX REQUIREMENT - Enter the design level from the appropriate matrix (F, M, B, EU/M, etc.) EXISTING/STANDARD/DETERMINATION - List the design criteria/describe the existing condition/list what the project will provide.
To use this file, download it to your PC or local server. Prepare and print an applicable set of documentation for each project in progress.
