Primary Objective(s) The Expansion Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of a student activist recruitment project. The aim is to get a group of students at the Edith Cowan University (ECU) to establish an Amnesty campus group in their university. This will broaden Amnesty presence and strengthen its human rights impacts. Reporting Relationship The incumbent reports directly to Activism Support Coordinator. Amnesty International Australia Team The Activism Team helps the organisation create human rights impact by supporting our existing activists and engaging potential activists. This is done through developing activism support systems, creating activism toolkits, providing logistical support for action groups events, providing advice on campaigns, coordinating volunteer recruitment and office administration management. Key Tasks Immersion ! Attend induction and other training events organised in the office. ! From November until January, shadow an active action group and (or) office volunteer team to gain insights into Amnestys campaign and activism work. Campus Engagement ! Establish and maintain a strong relationship with key contacts at ECU Mt. Lawley, including the Guild, relevant Faculty staff and academics.

Amnesty International Australia ! Be the main point of contact for the campus community.

Planning and evaluation ! Work together with the ASC to develop and evaluate recruitment campaign goals. ! Attend weekly meeting with the ASC. Team leadership and management ! Work together with Expansion Coordinator Assistant and Expansion Team members to develop and implement activist recruitment strategies and tactics. This includes organising and running O-Week stall, delivering information sessions, bulk emailing through relevant university channels, leafleting, and etc. ! Coordinate task and project allocation in the team. ! Coach, mentor and train team members. General administration: ! Respond to email and phone calls in a prompt and professional manner. ! Other administrative duties as required. Key relationships Internal ! Activism Support Coordinator. ! Community Organiser. ! Volunteer Coordinator ! Volunteer Coordinator Assistant. ! Activists (group conveners). External ! General public. ! University community. Learning Opportunities: ! Experience of leading and managing a team of people to achieve organisational goals. ! Opportunity to gain knowledge in human rights campaign and activism. ! Gain skills in running non-profit organisation, especially in the area of public information, volunteer management, and public engagement. !
