Missing the jump after the side swing

Toe-Touch Forward: By the end of class, the learner will correctly demonstrate the jump rope toe-touch forward skill 10 jumps in a row by (Swing) swinging the rope and jumping over it in a rhythmic pattern while (Toe Front) touching the toe of one foot on the floor in front them and (Switch) alternating to the other foot after jumping over the rope. Toe-Touch Backward: By the end of class, the learner will correctly demonstrate the jump rope toe-touch backward skill 10 jumps in a row by (Swing) swinging the rope and jumping over it in a rhythmic pattern while (Toe Back) touching the toe of one foot on the floor behind them and (Switch) alternating to the other foot after jumping over the rope.

CJ Scholl Common Errors Tapping toe too early

Skill Performance Analysis Corrections -Practice without the rope

Jump Rope skills Prevention

-Enforce cue words: Swing, Toe Front, Switch Swing, Toe Back, Switch -Practice without a rope first

Heel-Toe: By the end of class, the learner will correctly demonstrate the jump rope heel-toe skill 10 jumps in a row by (Swing) swinging the rope and jumping over it in a rhythmic pattern while (Heel-Toe) landing on one foot, touching the other heel forward, touching the toe to the side of the landing foots ankle, and (Switch) alternating on the next jump. Common Errors Moving legs too slow from heel to toe Corrections -Practice heel toe switch without rope -Add in rope but slow down the pace of swinging so the legs have enough time to complete the heel-toe -Place heel closer to the body so the foot is more ready for the switch to toe Prevention -Offer a slower tempo of music when practicing this skill -Practice without a rope first -Emphasize cue words: Swing, Heel-Toe, Switch

Jump Rope skills

jump skill 10 jumps in a row by swinging the rope and jumping over it in a rhythmic pattern while performing one two-foot basic step jump followed by (Apart, Together) jumping the legs out shoulder width apart in a straddle position. Common Errors Landing on the rope with feet Corrections -Wait to see the rope in front and listen for rope to hit ground to prevent jumping too early or late Prevention -Practice without a rope first -Teach students how to find their perfect rope size: when standing on the middle of the rope, the handles should come just up to their armpits -Emphasize cue words: Apart, Together -Practice without a rope first -Emphasize cue words: Apart, Together

Straddling legs too wide -Practice jumping legs apart out shoulder width apart -Wear proper footwear in case shoes are slipping

Cross Legs Sideways: By the end of class, the learner will correctly demonstrate the jump rope cross legs sideways skill 10 jumps in a row by swinging the rope and jumping over it in a rhythmic pattern while (Apart) jumping the legs out shoulder width apart followed by (Cross) jumping and crossing one foot over in front of the other foot in cross style. Common Errors Not crossing legs completely Corrections -Work on stretching the legs out before beginning practice -Practice straddle-cross without a rope Prevention -Practice without a rope first -Emphasize cue words: Apart, Cross

Swing-Step Sideways: By the end of class, the learner will correctly demonstrate the jump rope swing-step sideways skill 10 jumps in a row by (Swing) swinging the rope and jumping over it in a rhythmic pattern while (Switch) transferring weight from one foot to the other every jump and (Side) swinging the un-weighted leg sideways keeping the knee straight. Common Errors Corrections Prevention -Always practice without a rope first -Teach students how to find their perfect rope size: when standing on the middle of the rope, the handles should come just up to their armpits -Emphasize cue words: Swing, Switch, Leg-Swing Swing, Switch, Side

Getting the rope -Practice swinging leg caught on the swinging naturally, let leg stay leg loose -Bend knee slightly if legs are too long

Common Errors Not having enough time in one turn of the rope to execute the heel click Corrections -Slow down rhythm or jumping -Practice jumping sooner -Practice pulling legs together in click quicker Prevention -Always practice without a rope first -Emphasize cue words: Side, Jump, Click -Work on leg strengthening activities before learning skill

Double Under: By the end of class, the learner will correctly demonstrate the jump rope double under skill 3 out of 5 times by (Flick) flicking the wrist forward forcefully and (Double) swinging the rope twice under the feet and jumping over it in a rhythmic pattern while performing a two-foot basic step.
