1,000 World Records

In 1963 an Eleiko bar was used for the first time in an international weightlifting championship. Since then, more than 1,000 world records have been set with an Eleiko bar. The success is derived from its optimal balance, firm but not too sharp grip, the synchronized smooth rotation and perfect flexibility.

Maximum Safety and Performance

Every Eleiko product undergoes a stringent safety and functional control test. For example, each Eleiko bar is subjected to a bend test of a force of 1,500 kg and the discs are drop-tested 5,000 times. All is done to ensure maximum safety and performance.

It all began with a waffle iron...

The history of the world famous bar begins at a small factory in Halmstad, Sweden a factory that manufactured waffle irons and other electrical kitchen products. The year is 1957 and the Supervisor, Mr Hellstrm, who works on assembling waffle irons, has just received permission from the Managing Director, Mrs Johansson, to produce a sample weightlifting bar. As it happens Mr Hellstrm has a fervent interest in weightlifting, a sport that at the time has encountered problems with the bars bending. A bar of special hardened steel is produced, as well as metal weightlifting discs. The knurling of the bar appropriately receives a waffle pattern

A Stringent Quality Procedure

Every Eleiko product manufactured undergoes a stringent quality control test. Each stage of production is carefully executed to ensure that the highest standards are upheld. For example, each bar is placed in a vice and bent with a hydraulic jack subjecting it to a force of 1,500 kg. The bar must spring back to an exact straightness with a maximum deviation of no more than 0.5 mm. No bar will ever be bent that much in competition or training.

Since that day, the Eleiko brand has set a new standard, revolutionizing the world of weightlifting as we know it. As proof that the Eleiko bar has passed through our craftsmens stringent quality tests, it is furnished with information about the date of production, batch number, serial number and the craftsman in control. After that, it is packed in high-quality, custommade packaging to avoid delays or damages during transport. That is what we call a good piece of craftsmanship.

Powerlifting
Eleiko Sport is a certified supplier of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF). Eleiko powerlifting bars have a distinctive design that is stiffer than our weightlifting bars and have a sharper grip preferred by powerlifters. Our cast iron discs are unique with a thin design to allow for more discs to fit on the bar during heavier lifts. Product Tracking
Every Eleiko bar carries information about the production date, batch number, serial number and the craftsman in control. It can be tracked all the way from the steelworks to the customer.

Strength Rating 215,000 PSI

The strength rating of the Eleiko bar is 215,000 PSI. That means that it requires 215,000 pounds per square inch to pull the bar apart! The average bar usually runs about 130,000 to 150,000 PSI.

Tested for 1,500 kg

Each Eleiko bar is placed in a vice and bent with a hydraulic jack subjecting a force of 1,500 kg. The bar must spring back to an exact straightness with a maximum deviation of no more than 0.5 mm. The same procedure is repeated on the sleeves. No bar will ever be bent that much in competition or training.
