Week 1, Monday: Theory.

Learning Focus
The physical features of ancient Greece (such as its mountainous landscape) and how they influenced the civilization that developed there (ACDSEH003)

Activity
- A PowerPoint introduction to the physical features of Ancient Greece. -Students will then use resources provided (such as paper, Lego, scissors, glue, toilet rolls, sand and cardboard) to build a historical Ancient Greek

landmark.

Week 1, Wednesday: Theory

The physical features of ancient Greece (such as its mountainous landscape) and how they influenced the civilization that developed there (ACDSEH003)

- Students are to research by using their Ipads, and create a presentation using any form of media they wish describing the impact of the sea and mountain ranges of Ancient Greece on the development of selfgoverning city-states. This week students will be participating in the ancient Greek focused on the throwing events. Mainly teaching technique of discus and shotput. - Students will be allocated to a group of Athenian or Spartan society (for example the roles of citizens, women, slaves in Athenian society and the roles of Spartiates, Perioikoi and Helots in Spartan society) - they will be given 10 minutes to research information and get into character - Then the students are required to construct a roll play of ancient Spartan society and portray the ways in which different social groups would interact.

- Students will participate in a number of stadion (running) events. Including running 192m, 384m and an event that requires the students to run in heavy clothing, helmets and shin and kneepads. As the ancient Greeks used to participate in a race in their full armor. - Homework Task: -Students are required to choose one Ancient Greek Olympic event and create a poster on it

The significant beliefs, values and practices of the ancient Greeks, with a particular emphasis on ONE of the following areas: everyday life, warfare, or death and funerary customs (ACDSEH036)

- Students will be researching the history behind the ancient Greek Olympic games and create a timeline of important events

ancient Olympic sports: Boxing and Wrestling

- Incursion. -Students will participate in an in class instruction on boxing and wrestling by a professional instructor. - In the beginning of the class, students will participate in a think, pair, share activity about trade in ancient Greece and are then required to complete a worksheet with information provided.

Contacts and conflicts within and/or with other societies, resulting in developments such as the expansion of trade, colonisation and war (such as the Peloponnesian and Persian wars) (ACDSEH037)

- Students are to create a breaking news story on the beginning of the Persian War and Ancient Greeces involvement. -Students will use IMovie to report their findings, Students are to be as creative as they can be, and we will watch these movies as a class as a mini celebration with popcorn. - Students will run and participate in their own class Olympic Games, focusing on the events that they have been studying in previous Prac classes.

Week 4, Friday: Prac The running of the


Ancient Greek Olympic Games

- There will be medals awarded for each winner of individual events.
