UGA GRADUATE SURVEY The Career Center is conducting a survey of recent UGA graduates for our annual Graduate Survey. To complete the survey, please visit our website at www.ugagradsurvey.com. Completing the survey will take less than 10 minutes of your time and make you eligible for our iPad Mini! Complete the survey by Dec. 6, 2013 to be eligible for the iPad Mini drawing. The data we collect is completely confidential and invaluable to current and future UGA students! All data collected is used in an aggregate form only. No more than one entry per graduate! Only December 2012 and May 2013 graduates are eligible for the drawing. 2. EVALUATING THE JOB OFFER Wednesday, November 6, 3:30pm-4:30pm, MLC Rm 150 What is the best way to respond after receiving a job offer? What factors should be taken into consideration before accepting or declining an offer? The answer to these questions and more will be covered in Evaluating the Job Offer. You will learn about topics such as salary negotiation, appropriate questions to ask, and communication strategies for the hiring process. There is no dress requirement for this event. 3. INTERN FOR A DAY LAST CHANCE SESSION Wednesday, November 6, 4:00pm-5:00pm, MLC Rm 213 The Career Center partners with employers in Atlanta and Athens to provide a job shadow opportunity to match your career interest. A limited employer list will be available for this session. Students who participate are able to build their resume, explore a career and network with professionals. CAREERS IN SOCIAL MEDIA Wednesday, November 13, 6:00pm - 7:00pm, MLC Rm 248 Youve most likely used social media platforms for fun or to keep in touch with your friends, and now you can find out how to turn your hobby into a career! This panel will consist of alumni and professionals who currently work with social media technology every day. Hear about ways to obtain jobs in social media, what a typical work day is like, and the knowledge & skills needed to become a successful social media professional. 5. ADPR CONNECTION Tuesday, November 12, 11:00am - 5:00pm, Tate Grand Hall Grady College will host ADPR Connection, a major networking event open to students in all years and all majors. The event will include a senior luncheon (open only to paid members of PRSSA and AdClub), professional workshops and a career fair. A mixer will also take place after the event from 6-8 p.m. In past years, the event has brought in more than 500 students to network with over 50 companies in the advertising and public relations fields. Confirmed companies include the event sponsors, Porter Novelli and BBDO, as well as Turner, JacksonSpalding and Coca-Cola.

The event is free for all students and is a great opportunity to meet future employers or just explore opportunities available in these fields. Everyone with an interest in the advertising and/or PR fields is welcome and encouraged to attend. Dont miss out on this exciting event! COLLEGE OF PUBLIC HEALTH FALL OPEN HOUSE 2013 Thursday, November 14, 11:00am-3:00pm This event is designed to give everyone an introduction to the areas of public health available at The University of Georgia College of Public Health. It is open to all who are interested in pursuing graduate study in public health. The event this year will be formatted into several parts, including an information session, working lunch covering admissions, break-out departmental sessions, a tour of the new Health Sciences Campus, and an option to observe a class. Register here to attend in-person. 7. LIBERTY MUTUAL RESPONSIBLE SCHOLARS People get opportunities to do responsible things every day. And when a small act grows into a big result, it deserves recognition. The Liberty Mutual Responsible Scholars program challenges students in undergraduate programs with excellent academic achievements to demonstrate what it means to be responsible. Only first and second year undergraduate students (U.S. citizen and permanent residents) are eligible to apply.
