Thank you to our Early Childhood families who attended the Learning Journey last week. It was an opportunity for your child to share the different approaches we have to learning at Wanneroo Primary. A special thank you to our early childhood staff who ensured your child was well prepared to engage with you in their learning journey.
Our School Values Respect Tolerance Self Discipline Courtesy Cooperation Confidence
With the end of the year approaching, we have commenced the process of planning classes for 2014. The classes will be constructed in such a way that best meets the needs of the students within the constraints of the resources we have available. Should there be an educational reason pertaining to your childs placement, you are invited to put your reasons in writing to me. Your request should be addressed to my email address below, marked confidential and be received no later than 29 November. You need to be aware that only requests that are addressed to me will be considered rather than through class teachers. While your concerns will be considered, it will be in the context of other factors including the social, emotional and academic needs of all students. For this reason parent requests cannot automatically be accommodated. It is with regret I share with you that Ms Jane Wood who was registrar at the old Wanneroo Junior Primary and subsequently was appointed registrar when the Wanneroo schools amalgamated has decided to pursue a new career path. Over the years, Jane has built some wonderful relationships in the community which enabled her to provide valuable support for many students, families and staff. On behalf of the Wanneroo Primary community, I would like to acknowledge Janes tremendous commitment to our school and wish her well for the future. She will be missed by us all. Mrs Bloomfield will continue in the role of registrar until a new appointment is made. Penny Halleen Principal Week 3 Penny.Halleen@education.wa.edu.au 30 October, 2013

Congratulations to Room 15 who with the support of Mrs Lilburne presented an informative assembly last week in which they provided, through skits and music, strategies on how to deal with physical and verbal bullying. The strong message they conveyed to the audience was if you are being bullied it is important to tell someone you trust be it your mum, dad, teacher or a close friend. Our next assembly will be conducted by Mrs Lanhams Year 5 Room 16 class on Friday 8 November. Parents, family and friends are welcome to join us in the covered assembly area followed by tea or coffee with the school chaplain.

Thank you to Natalie Coopes who organised the visit as part of the opening of the time capsules.

Its that time again when stores are gearing up for the Christmas season with decorations and present ideas. It is a season that I love, where there is much joy. But for some families in our local community, and beyond, it is a time of stress as they struggle to pay bills, let alone buy gifts for their loved ones. This is why we at WPS support the Mayors Christmas Appeal each year, as it aims to help those experiencing hardship by way of giving a hamper of delicious goodies for them to enjoy. Would you kindly join us by donating non-perishable food items such as Christmas cakes, nuts, biscuits, pasta, rice or noodles & sauce, tinned foods, jams and spreads, tea, coffee and sugar, long life milk, cereals, chocolates. There is a collection bin in the office and it will remain there until the week of 18 November. It is important not to send in items that are out of date items. Sweaters for Syria: please donate your old jumpers to Salvation Army stores before 10 November! They will be collected by Minderoo Foundation, who will forward them on to Syrian refugees in border camps in Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan & Egypt. They will arrive just in time for the icy winter and provide much needed warmth and could make the difference between life and death. Ms Nicky Davies, in the Senior Block, is also happy to forward on any donations. If you wish to catch up with me please contact the office or email carolyn.campbell@education.wa.edu.au I am available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Hope to see you soon.
