November 2013 Student in the Spotlight

Each month we recognize a Lions Club Student of the Month. The student must be a senior, model for others, and someone that has contributed to the high school in a variety of ways. We attempt to select students that are not usually recognized and since we are allowed only eight seniors per year, it is imperative that we select confident, creditable ambassadors. Owen Soulliere was our October Lion's Club Student of the Month. Congratulations Owen!

Grand Ledge High School is now a Labels for Education School! You can help Grand Ledge High School earn free merchandise such as classroom supplies, computers, audio/visual equipment, physical education equipment, reference books, or musical instruments, simply by collecting Labels for Education participating product UPCs and beverage/sauce caps and turning them in to the box in the main office. You can also help by spreading the word to students and parents. For a complete list of participating products, please visit the Labels for Education website. You can also check out their Facebook page to find out about additional ways to earn Labels for Education bonus points for our school.

Order Your 2014 Yearbook! TI Technology Rewards Program

The Math Department is collecting points found on the backs of new TI calculator packages (see below), which then can be redeemed for new calculators. Points can be turned in to Mrs. Rice or Mrs. Heriford. Thank you! Yearbooks are on sale for $70. Go to the high school webpage to order OR bring in a check made out to GLHS to Room 113.

Senior Portrait Deadline

Senior portraits were due October 31st, last call for photos is November 7th. Pages will send before Thanksgiving break.

Yearbook Proud Parent Ads

The deadline is soon approaching for proud parent ads for the 2014 yearbook. Ads are not just for seniors, but for all grade levels. Any grandparent, uncle, mom, sister etc. can put in a special ad with photos to congratulate their Comet on a great year. Please see the GLHS homepage for details or contact Mrs. Badalamente at badalamentes@glcomets.net. Ads are due by December 31.

Swimming Lessons
Swim lessons begin at the Grand Ledge High School pool Saturday morning, November 2nd, and run for 6 weeks. No swimming on November 30th (Thanksgiving weekend). To sign up please go to GLathletics.com for more information please call Ann Manning's voice mail @ 925-5373.

Career Preparation Center Visitation Day Buffalo Wild Wings Fundraiser

Come out to BW's on November 18 to support the GLHS yearbook. 20 percent of your carryout or dine in purchase will help keep the yearbook affordable for all students. The Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center is now registering sophomores and juniors for a Visitation Day Field Trip during the school day on December 17th. Registration is open until December 6th. The Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center programs are designed to prepare high school students for college and career by providing enriching, hands-on learning and leadership opportunities that can lead to both high school and college credits. Many of the programs also offer the chance of earning an industry certification, leadership opportunities in local, regional, and national student organizations, and professional job shadowing and work-based learning.
