in primary schools, how increasing participation in PE and sport is helping all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of discussions with pupils about their work the views of parents, pupils and staff discussions with staff and senior leaders
case studies of individual pupils The schools curriculum promotes and sustains a thirst for knowledge and a love of learning. It covers a wide range of subjec ts and provides opportunities for academic, technical and sporting excellence. It has a very positive impact on all pupils behaviour and safety, and contributes very well to pupils academic achievement, their physical wellbeing, and their spiritual, moral, social and cultu ral development.
Evaluating the schools use of the new primary school sport funding Inspectors should consider the impact of the new primary school sport funding on pupils lifestyles and physical wellbeing by taking account of the following factors: the increase in participation rates in such activities as games, dance, gymnastics, swimming and athletics the increase and success in competitive school sports how much more inclusive the physical education curriculum has become the growth in the range of provisional and alternative sporting activities the improvement in partnership work on physical education with other schools and other local partners links with other subjects that contribute to pupils overall achievement and their greater social, spiritual, moral and cultu ral skills the greater awareness amongst pupils about the dangers of obesity, smoking and other such activities that undermine pupils h ealth.
In a neighbouring county an Ofsted inspector just asked three main questions and follow ups around the use of School Sports Funding to various Governors
Question 1 Question: Do you have School Games Kitemark? Question: Why has your school not applied and how come you are unaware of the reward process? Question 2 Question: Have you audited your staff and pupils on the schools needs around the Sports premium? Question back: Why have you not audited your staff and pupils as this is a key area of inspection? Question 3 Question: Do you have a development plan in place around the Sports premium? Question back: Why have you spent a large percentage of your Sports Premium if you have not put a plan in place?

Fitter Healthier SSP Corby, Oundle and Thrapston SSP 2013/ 2014
1) A fitter, healthier SSP.The use of Change 4 Life and associated programs to increase the overall physical activity levels of pupils in all schools
The programme was designed to deliver the following objectives: Increased activity for all children Improved fundamental movement for all children Aid social and personal skills improvement with both parents and children Provide evidence to support objectives Delivering the Project The project was co delivered through Northamptonshire Sport and a member of staff from Rockingham Primary School. The member of staff from the school attending two days of training alongside Northamptonshire Sport staff to ensure a high quality level of delivery was delivered by both activators. Project Impact Throughout the running of the club numbers gradually increased until we had 9 families regularly attending with 20 participants enjoying Family FUNS time. The targeted group of participants were KS1 pupils but the club was open to all the members of the families. The club attracted siblings, parents and grandparents along to spend some quality family time together. To improve the club going forward it is felt that better publicity of the benefits to the club and Family FUNS would attract a greater audience and uptake. The Future The school is looking to continue with a family inclusive program of work this academic year. They have used some funding to employ a member of staff half a day a week to support Change 4 Life and other Physical Activity within the school. The school has successfully in an Awards4All bid to develop health and wellbeing across the community of Rockingham Primary School. Feedback Miss Curtis, I have thoroughly enjoyed co-delivering Family FUNS, the training offered provided me with the skills to deliver this project and other Physical Activity work within Rockingham Primary Child A Family FUNS was great as I got to play with my mum at school and at home. Mum is cool
