Shahid 1 5. Theology: Does the Judeo-Christian God exist?

Throughout the centuries people have tried to prove or disprove God. For several centuries the Christian and Jewish God have been attempted to be proven real or proven fake. Jesus and the Holy Spirit are debatable but the Christian father of Jesus, that God, can be proven real. Some people chose to be atheist and believe in science instead, even though its not a religion. St. Anselm, St. Thomas Aquinas, and a BBC documentary provide much evidence to support that God exists. One of the worlds most well-known theologians is was Anselm. According to Princeton.edu his Ontological Argument, even though from the early 1000s was very logical and his utilization of biblical quotes to help support his argument also helped him out. The most famous biblical quote hes known for using is that the fool says in his heart that there is no God (Psalms 14:1). This fool has two qualities, he comprehends the belief that God exists, but doesnt believe in him. Using this, he believes that atheists contradict themselves. However, his primary belief and argument is that God is the ultimate, perfect being basically beyond the realm of human comprehension, which logically makes sense. Another well-known theologian is the 14th century philosopher St. Thomas Aquinas. His attempted to prove himself that God exists, and listed 5 ways that he could in his Summa Theologica. His 5 proofs in brief were of motion, efficient cause, necessary being, gradation and design. In short he says God invented motion, had to exist because the universe cant make itself, nature was dependent on him, was the goodest being, and nature follows a pattern which was given to them by God. All of these arguments can be

Shahid 2 proven wrong, but only by atheists under their beliefs. To a person of any religion they are hard to dispute. The faith and reason BBC documentary also provides a bit of a non-biased standpoint on the issue. Almost the begin the documentary we hear Einsteins famous quote, Religion without science is blind, science without religion is lame. The documentary also makes it clear that science is not done to disprove God, and science and religion arent opposed to each other. Science and Math have been used recently to try to make more logical sense of the universe. Even with the great achievements in science and math however, there are still many things that are hard to explain such as paranormal activities and basic things like snowflakes and shells all having unique patterns. Religion came first and was really what people went to for answers in the past. Nowadays the answers are coming more from science. However, science has not answered every question there is. Aquinas was blamed for using God as the answer to every question he didnt know the answer to. However, Aquinas had the right to do so because scientists, Anselm, and himself provided great evidence to support that God does exist and that answer works if he does. Science doesnt have all the answers, but God seems to have just enough.
