Completing the form

The information you give on this selected entry form (page 3 to page 5) is used by academic advisors as part of the selection process for entry to design and fine arts programmes.

Both the student and a kaumatua must sign the whakapapa as evidence of identity and citizenship. The signatory must identify their official designation and location on the front of each page of the copy (preferably with an official stamp), sign and date the copy and write the following words (or words to the same effect): This is a true copy of an original document that I have sighted. The document with the verification must be received by Massey University and not a copy or fax of the verified copy. The University does not return verified copies to you. Please do not send original identity documents. If you do send originals, Massey University does not guarantee secure return of these documents to you. As an alternative to sending in verified copies of your documents you can show the originals to a Massey University staff member who will take a copy of your original documents and sign and date the copy to show that the documents have been sighted.

Admission to graduate and postgraduate study (APS) is usually programme and major specific, and may have conditions attached. APS requires at least 15 working days to process (on receipt of all documentation) and is initiated by your enrolment in the programme. You therefore need to enrol well before the start of the semester in which you intend to study. Verified transcripts from all of your previous tertiary study are essential unless you completed your previous degree at Massey University.

English language requirements

All students studying at Massey University are expected to be able to write grammatically correct English, read English actively and with understanding, listen to and discern key points in spoken English and speak English freely and clearly. Procedures also exist for those students who wish to submit written work or examinations in Mori. All international students whose first language is not English will be required to provide satisfactory evidence of their English language proficiency in the form of an academic IELTS or TOEFL score. More information is available on the International students web pages at http://international.massey.ac.nz.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE TO STUDY AT MASSEY?

We include a preferential admission scheme in our policies for admission to undergraduate qualifications for domestic students. This scheme assists us to manage our enrolments if courses are over-subscribed, but it is likely that you will be offered a place in your qualification of choice. Your application will be assessed as follows: 1. Assessment of eligibility for university entrance through NCEA Level 3, University Entrance examination or another recognised admission method explained below; Assessment of a rank score, based on educational background, using the methods explained below. We will calculate a rank score for you; Assessment against the specific requirements for selection if any (eg assessment of your portfolio of work for the Bachelor of Design with Honours). If you need any assistance: Phone: 0800 MASSEY Email: contact@massey.ac.nz Text: 5222 Website: study.massey.ac.nz

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
The International Office is the first point of contact for course information and advice. As an international student you will need to meet both the academic and English language requirements of your intended programme of study. Our international students need to complete and return the Application for Admission as an International Student form along with their supporting documents to the International Office. Check out international.massey.ac.nz for the specific criteria for pre-degree and undergraduate level applicants and details on how to apply.

2. 3.

If you are under 20 years of age you will be given preference if you gain university entrance and score equal to or above the Preferential Entry Score of 120 points and meet the specific requirements for selection where required. If you are 20 years of age or older and we must make selection decisions because your qualification of choice has limited places and is over-subscribed, the assessments outlined above will be used to make those selection decisions. However, we may give preference to students from under-represented groups when making selections into qualifications. Students who achieve admission to university with a rank score lower than the Preferential Entry Score, or who have no rank score, are still eligible to apply, and it is anticipated that most will be admitted to a qualification. If there are more applicants for a qualification than can be accommodated, the rank score may be used, together with any stated selection criteria for the course concerned. This will be to prioritise applicants or to determine whether a place can be offered in an alternative qualification. The following qualifications have specific requirements for selection. Please refer to the specific requirements listed in this prospectus for each qualification. Bachelor of Aviation Bachelor of Design / Bachelor of Design with Honours Bachelor of Education Bachelor of Engineering with Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts / Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours Bachelor of Food Technology with Honours Bachelor of Mori Visual Arts Bachelor of Music Bachelor of Nursing Bachelor of Science (some majors) Bachelor of Social Work Bachelor of Speech Language Therapy Bachelor of Veterinary Science Bachelor of Veterinary Technology
